For Fecks Sake
With us now requiring Celtic to complete the 'we're going to go on and on and on about this' treble treble to qualify for Europe, if by some miracle Hearts win the Scottish Cup (God forbid), would missing out on Europe be THAT bad a thing? On the one hand the squad get a longer break and give Del the time to get new players in and gel. On the other we have to enter the shitty part of the League Cup and no European away trip to somewhere potentially exciting. Personally would prefer Europe but not adverse to a few games in the North East in the League Cup. Will probably be told to delete my account by some for even thinking about not going into Europe but interested in others thoughts. 2 Link to comment

Edinburgh_dandy
Players need the incentive of Europe. Even if we only have two games. Ridiculous to be happy with missing out and it’s only because people don’t want tims getting a treble treble. I think it’d be funnier for levien to stay trophy-less. Link to comment
dazzy_deff
League cup starts before Europa League qualifying doesn't it? So no longer break. Link to comment
fine-n-dandy
Not getting into Europa gives McInnes better excuses for his no rush with signings policies 2 Link to comment
1903Fitba
Europe is the only real excitement of the season. Link to comment

strachanmcgheegoal
Europe is the obvious preference. League cup if it happens is not a disaster though if used positively. If it’s used to give players (with no additions) an extra two weeks on the sauce before turning up to play billy big balls against east fucking Fife they they deserve everything that will come their way. Cup final is out of our hands. We just have to optimise whatever outcome awaits us. 1 Link to comment

the_shrimp
Europe. As 1903fitba said it's the only exciting part of the season. Also fuck Hearts. I'd rather we got Europe than them. Link to comment

Like most I would prefer Europe but just interested in hearing other views and comments on the subject. 1 Link to comment
Just Dandy
It's not really a dilemma. A first-round Euro qualifier - which we should definitely win btw - is a great way to get players gelling ahead of the domestic league season. I'm at ease ahead of the cup final. I'd sure as fuck rather be relying on Celtic beating Hearts than Hearts beating Celtic. Link to comment

Tord31
Celtic all the way. Europe every time. Preference for us to compete at that level We could fluke a bit of a run The revenue is vastly different and ultimately that is required for us to continue to progress Also puts us straight into last 16 of league cup Some players might join on basis of getting to play a game or two in europe Link to comment

I'd very much doubt that it wasn't worth their while to do so... Short of that trip to Kazakhstan which is fucking miles away and a bastard to get to I can't see why it wouldn't pay for itself... It's usually near to selling out Pittodrie as it's the first competitive game of the season and a tidy amount of cash for 2 wins... So I fail to see how it wouldn't... That and they've turned down cash for TV money before to get Pittodrie filled so if it does fail to make money they must be partly culpable for that fact if they're turning away TV cash... Geoff_Tipps
I fear another Sigma Olomouc debacle if we get into Europe. I am a little concerned by McInnes's post match comments, claiming he has had a huge rebuilding job the past three summer's, which is true, however, he goes on to say the past few seasons has proved he is capable of rebuilding with quality. Over the past 3 years it is clear to see we are regressing. With little to no quality on show this season. There is no doubt Mcinnes has done superb at Aberdeen, but his inability to address our problems and inconsistent signing policy is really starting to show. Massive summer which he really must get right. Filling the squad with players like Ball, Taylor or Wilson will just not cut it. It's a very lazy signing policy. 4 Link to comment
RUL
If you've ever seen a pre season game you'll know why qualifying for the League Cup will be horrendous. I cannot see Hearts beating celtic but I suppose anything is possible. Link to comment
