WesthillWanderersFC
Allegedly we have “recouped most of the fee we paid with substantial add ons”. So would that be around £500k-£600k then with the add ons. Hopefully it’s used wisely… Link to comment

I am pretty sure it was Paul Hegarty that signed Jim Hamilton from Hearts, around the same time he brought Andreas Mayer to the club on the back of his performance in Teddy Scott's testimonial (Fuck me the club (and supporters) paid for that same approach in singing a certain donkey 9 1/2 years later). Hegarty's only two signings during his tenure if my memory is in working order this morning. Link to comment

This Hernandez thing is all the evidence that club supporters need to know you cant trust the utterances of this new owner. This was Atlanta II Aberdeen edition. Partnership has not been good for Aberdeen. And if this owner had stones Hedges would be sold, scrubs offloaded, and someone like Jeyson Chura in at rw. You could really sell him on in a couple years for a legit return. Instead of recruiting more bums from down south put some serious money together and kick the old firm in the nuts on a big pre contract offer to karamoko dembele. Link to comment

Ke1t
"Cormack added: "The board believed this to be a good investment for the club. Had we any inclination that he would rarely play, we would never have signed him."" Chucklin' Dave must think we're all a bit simple. Link to comment
Kiriakov33
Genuine question. Seen loads of posts claiming the deal to be dodgy, skullduggery at work or shady dealings but can someone explain what the shadyness is or was ? An affy lot of folk getting affy upset over something that in reality isn’t as exciting as they want it to be. Link to comment

Venezuelan international regular that hardly plays for us having been paid for supposedly by Cormack himself rather than the club. That seems strange in itself. But ok, we might just have been unlucky, let's try to offload him elsewhere. Now Christ knows how many professional football teams there are in the world..........actually just googled and in Fifa report 2019 there were a minimum of 3903 teams over 201 countries......so what do you think the chances were that Hernandez would just somehow randomly next end up at the very club we had only a year or so before announced as our strategic partner? Most of us actually predicted it long before it happened.... Link to comment

We can't afford to sign players, never mind unknowns, for a million quid... but Atlanta can We don't have a history of signing South Americans (Kurt Cobain aside)... but Atlanta does We had a manager who claimed to have 'scouted [Hernandez] extensively'... but refused to play him If Aberdeen spends a million quid on a player, regardless of how bad he might be, he's going to be playing. Particularly under McInnes. May was 400k, couldn't score in a brothel, yet McInnes persevered with him... so being shite was no impediment to playing for McInnes. When we signed Hernandez it was for a position we already had an established, albeit declining Logan... with, let's say a very decent replacement coming through the youth ranks to replace the cheeky plumber. Was there even a reason to sign a million pound Right Back for Aberdeen, given we're in the free/cheap market? That's so far out of the ordinary for us that you'd have to be not paying any attention at all to not sit up and take notice. At the time he was signed it appeared he was signed more as an Atlanta player than an Aberdeen player, and that Aberdeen was merely a transition point on his way to Atlanta, but, hey, there's thousands of other professional clubs in the world who might want to take a look at him, right? ...and then he signs for Atlanta on a loan deal. ... and then he signs for Atlanta permanently. If this all seems like it was on the up and up to you, that he was truly always an Aberdeen player, and that the plan wasn't always that he'd be going to Atlanta, then fair do's. 2 Link to comment

Why wouldn't Atlanta sign him direct from the Norwegian club? Why would he have to come via AFC? To get round UEFA or MLS rules? If, just for instance, Atlanta had their full quota of foreign players, but didn't want to risk another club signing him so maybe there's another club they could use.......maybe one in Europe that perhaps they had relatively recently formed a strategic partnership with that they could park him at for a few months?
