Yerdas Selzavon
Saw Scott Burns posting about foreign managers outside the old firm being bad - not sure whether that's just a random thought that has occurred to him or whether that is a suggestion something is afoot Link to comment
Tord31
So lets say Jimmy Thelin is in the frame. Any concern that his tactics sound awfully like Robson's at the start of this season? Long pass quickly forward, high press, counter press, not caring about possession stats. Any concerns that it just wont consistently work in the spfl or was Robson just thick as mince? Obviously we can be super snooty about the quality of the Swedish top flight but you don't do that without having something about you. Either it worked all the time there or he knew when to be pragmatic and change things when they weren't going well/depending on opposition. Robson did not do this really. 1 Link to comment

There is a huge difference between aimless hoofs up the pitch and long passes to players in space or for wingers to run on to. His press and out of possession structure appears to be a lot more thought out than that idiots game plan. My biggest concern is the players buying into it and whether or not we have the right players capable of doing it? Our side lacks a lot of paces, we also have limited squad depth too which makes in game changes more difficult, add in that a few players have some injury issues. 1 Link to comment

Said that although his football is direct his team had the highest %age of successful long passes which suggests that he tels his players exactly where he wants the ball played rather than just aimless fucking hoofs up the park. Its obviously got him an element of success. The only thing that concerns me is that we don't have the players capable of playing long successful passes. Especially at the back. 1 Link to comment

He couldn't affect anything during a game, he never had any answers to the problems on the pitch we were facing. It's one thing having a style or a set up you prefer and occasionally, given the squad he wanted to pick from, his set up did seem logical, but you won't go very far unless you're capable of adapting to the changing game or the oppositions tactics or players. Robson was thick as mince. 1 Link to comment
