Stoneybloke
I saw Paton briefly tonight in the testimonial and he looked good from what I saw. It seemed at one time that he was going to be a good prospect but has somehow never been able to fulfil his potential over the last few years. Is he just going to drift away into oblivion or has he woken up and finally realised he just might have a future as a footballer if he really wants it. Link to comment

Likely to run into a developmenal dead end at Aberdeen. Should try his luck at a third tier English club if he's serious about progressing. Link to comment

Should try his luck at a third tier English club if he's serious about progressing. Why is that. Does he have some serious skeletons in the cupboard that he can't shake off? I've seen some references to him having an attitude problem - is that what it's all about? Link to comment

I was impressed by him when he first broke into the team, remember him scoring a decent goal against Celtic in a 4 all draw. I definately think there is a player there. Apparently had a really good pre - season too. With Fallon & McGinn injured looks like he will be getting his chance. Hope he takes it. Link to comment
tommo1903
Always said he wasnt given a fair chance in the team. Give him a shotty, and if he's as pish as many make out then get rid. Link to comment
ollie1903
He certainly looked very decent tonight. 1 1 Link to comment
fine-n-dandy
Always played well against rangers if I mind right & skinned Whittaker everytime he played him. Seemed to have a decent game the nite as well so he may get his chance again & more importantly TAKES IT! Link to comment

It seems like all the guys who promise great things at Aberdeen simply stagnate when they hit the first team. Call it the Diamond Effect... but in recent years we've had seemingly great talents break into the first team and simply do dick once they're there. Possibly our youth coaches are far better than our first team coaches. Hopefully Simmie doesn't retire now he got his (long overdue) testimonial. Link to comment

Dynamo
I'd start him on Saturday in place of McGinn. Link to comment

fifered
I thought he was pish last night. Touch like a brick. We could kiss goodbye to any thought of European football with him up front as a central striker. As for him taking the place of mcginn, Ryan Fraser should take that place without an shadow of a doubt. 1 2 Link to comment
stand_free
Looked a lot fitter than the last couple of times I'd seen him too, where he was starting to look like he'd let himself go a bit. Link to comment
lethal707
I'd go as far as to say he was our best player last night.....apart from Simmy 1 1 Link to comment

barassie_afc
Judging a lad on a meaningless bounce game, he has had plenty to prove himself, he isnt good enough 1 1 Link to comment
strachanmcgheegoal
Paton, and for that matter Fraser are similar in that they are pacy enough to run into a space where a ball should be waiting for them. Until you have a midfield with instruction to do that it won't really matter who you play. From Saturday Mcgennis knocking it down to Vernon and Hayes would be the more effective, unless of course Rae has a forward pass hiding in him somewhere. Put the ball into the space thus turning the 6 foot ex-highland league full back on his arse. If Paton/Fraser/Megginson insert as approporiate aren't there waiting for it Knox should bawl them oot and tell them there's another one coming in a minute's time and dare them not to be on the end of it. strachanmcgheegoal
No, but a bit like Mcguire a combination of brain and cocky attitude means he can see a gap and go into it unlike some of the headless chicken fare we've seen in the past. Christ I didn't say he was Peter Weir like. Are you telling me you like Hayes going back to the half way line to take the ball from Rae on a square pass (and I'm aware you are not Rae's biggest fan ever) and then take on the 9 opposition players now lined up and ready to face him. tup
He's always been a good player. It's his attitude that's always been the issue. Not surprising really, he's a minker from the arse end of weegieland, thick as mince, as evidenced by his facebook exchange with the equally glaikit Zander Diamond. 1 Link to comment
Henry
theres someone in there, definitely Michael Paton, I would presume. 1 Link to comment
Jonty
He's f4ckin sh1te. Likes to accompany Diamond to see their beloved hoops and always bleezin about town acting like a big shot. F4ckin arse. Ands thinks he's too good for Morton - prob too scared as he would be found out if he went down to first division. 4 goals in 51 dons appearances, makes Mackie look prolific. He plays ok in a meaningless friendly and suddenly he's the answer, Jesus. Link to comment

K-9
Did ok last night in a snails pace game but nothing more. Big Josh on Saturday did lot more to deserve a start this week. However probably neither will start as midfielder will replace McGinn as we sit in. Link to comment

muttonhumper
Is he just going to drift away into oblivion or has he woken up and finally realised he just might have a future as a footballer if he really wants it.Yes. He doesn't have the attitude or brain in his head to develop any further. Looked decent enough when he first appeared in the team under McGhee, but has dipped alarmingly since his retarded ballbaggery japes with his dhimwit bum boy Plug Diamond. That was as well as he played last night for about 2 years.Even then, he was average at best.Apart from his first touch which was diabolical on many occasions. The boy is fucking useless. Proved that on practically every sub appearance/ (start?) he's made in the last 2 seasons. If he does get a chance in the coming weeks due to injuries up front to other strikers then it will surely be his last.Waste of a 3 year contract that een. Or 2 year extension. Fitivir it wis. Link to comment
