BobbyBiscuit
Horseshoe Horseshoe is a ***king dump, and a bit of a hun shop too. Between Queen St and Central isn't great for pubs, unfortunately. Link to comment
glasgow sheep
depends what you wantDecent pub and grub, head to the Beir Halle on Gordon Street (just of Buchanan St, along from Central)If you want a pub packed with Scotland fans then choose from any of Iron Horse, Horseshoe, Maltman, Goose or Crystal Palace. On top of that there a loads of pubs the other side of Central Station, Merchant City, Royal Exchange Square or along Sauchiehall St of varying quality, all within 10mins of the stations Link to comment
The Oxford Don
If you want somewhere between Queen St and Central then head to the Counting House on George Sq for the atmosphere and pre-match build-up. But you'll need to be early, (like, really early - 11am or before) because by midday the place is absolutely hoachin'. Link to comment

I concur, been in there pre-match for a few Scotland games and the place is always bouncing! Usually very hard to get in though I agree, but if you can, thats the best bet! Link to comment
