At The Border Guy
Hope no-one minds me starting a general thread on this. Glad I've got something to look forward to after yesterday. Guessing it's because I've not had a chance to read the papers, but I've missed out on any build-up to this - Definitely doesn't seem to be as stupidly over-the-top as the Holland games a few years ago. Guess it goes without saying that it's something to be proud of even if we don't get a result - Personally I'm going into it feeling guardedly optimistic. Pretty glad we don't have Smith in charge now. Could see him still starting with a 4-5-1 (ala Belarus), and think we'd be buggered if we did. Hopefully McLeish will go with a 4-4-2 and go for the early goal. McFadden seems to be on brilliant form at Everton, so he'll be the one to get it for us, and if any player isn't up for it, then he shouldn't be playing football. I'm a realist, and know it's these types of games that turn into damp squibs, but I really can't see this being anything short of a brilliant match. Can't wait! CtS
Everything points to a Scotland victory. Home advantage, nothing to lose, lashing rain and freezing winds, Italian football in turmoil, bring it on! Wouldn't be the first time we've turned over the World Champions. Link to comment
dave_min
Italy have never qualified for the European Championships straight after winning the World Cup! I can't see us doing any better than a 1-1 draw. Believe Link to comment

roosterbooster
think they have a great chacne on Saturday. Not only are Scotland playing well, strong at home, they are a bloody good team with plenty of quality players and i hope they do it as they deserve it and we all deserve a bit of a party on Saturday. Oh and i also fecking hate Italian footballers with a passion, they are up there with huns in my hatred, diving moaning caunts. Absolutely no chance Mcleish will be playing 4-4-2 it will be 4-5-1 with the onus on the midfield bombing forward to support Mcfadden and the fullback kicking on aswell. Team will be GordonHutton Weir Mcmanus Naismith HartleyMculloch Flectcher Fergueson BrownMcfadden Hutton and Naismith will be told to get ofrward and create width. BELIEVE! Link to comment

BELIEVE!Think Rooster is about right here. 4-5-1 would be what I' expect, the longer it's 0-0 the more I actually like our chances. Weir v Toni is a worry though. Link to comment
Dynamo
Italy are the masters of getting a result when they need too. Link to comment
roosterbooster
ye they hate digging out a draw when needed - even adds to my desire to beat them. Dont think Toni will start think they will only play 1 up front also being Di Natale and they will flood the midfield, could get very congested and it could take a bit of Mcfadden magic. Big task for centre half on Sat as think they wil lhave a quite game but need to keep focused. Hutton is going to be very important to give us some width Link to comment
