Can't blame him for wanting to get back into day to day job in football and if doing that is doing it at end of campaign and not leaving anyone really in the lurch. And since on allegedly about a third of what Vogts was paid can't blame him for moving to a job where his wages will multiply a lot!!

quadroupled apparently.

its a sad day when managing "the giants" of Birmingham City is a better job than leading your national team to the World Cup finals.

Let's be realistic here, he's not going to have a serious job to do until September next year when the world cup qualifying starts. I wouldn't blame him if he wants a more day to day job rather than sitting around doing nothing for ten months.

so he would be like every other international manager in the world then.

and he would have plenty to do by watching plaayers play that he may want to pick.

being national coach used to be the highest honour but the money bags down south have ***ked that up.

He could spend 20 hours a day for the next six months watching videos of SPL games and it would be of little to no use by the time the matches actually come around in September. Of course there'll be friendlies and there'll be other commitments and tasks that need done, but it's hardly comparable to a club job when he isn't going to manage a competitive match for ten months.

god point. but taking your team to the world cup finals would beat any club job IMO

Maybe... and I tend to think (hope) that even if he is keen on the Birmingham job, he'll keep them hanging on at least until Sunday so he can see what our chances for making it to 2010 actually look like.

!STOP PRESS!

Most bookmakers have now suspended betting on the next Birmingham City manager....

Only Bet365 (1/2) & BlueSQ (4/11) are still open.... they'll probably close the market imminently... so be quick!

mmm seen it all before - cancelled all betting but actually doesn't get the job. Be interesting to see market on betfair but they don't have one up.

It would be worth laying McLeish at 8/13. Free money as I can't see him leaving Scotland with the potential he has at his disposal. He's still young and the EPL can wait.

Aye very good! Considering him and Gordon Smith flew out to South Africa this morning for the world cup draw, I say it's ever so slightly unlikely.

Could this be a spot of mischief making, as we all know how passionately you care about your country :thumbup1:

In all honesty his price has come crashing in, and has been suspended with some Bookies. These markets are traded actively, so wouldn't be surprised if certain large individuals have smashed his odds all the way down to here and have then been laying him at less than evens. Basically makes a lot of money whether he goes Birmingham or not, and relies on fan panic and fervour to "get on it" before its too late. I'd very extremely surprised if he goes, and think the market has been manipulated nicely by some syndicate. Technically nothing illegal, but if it was gambling on a share price for example and a syndicate sold the market all the way down, then put out false information to continue this move they'd have the book thrown at them.
