Scarface
Anyone got any views on this etc? Football Club United of Manchester (FC United of Manchester, FC United, FCUoM or FCUM for short) is a semi-professional English football club based in Bury. The club was formed in 2005 by Manchester United supporters, many of whom decided to withdraw their financial support for the club following Malcolm Glazer's takeover. They are affectionally referred to as "The Red Rebels". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F.C._United_of_Manchester The club's manifesto includes the following core principles:[10] The Board will be democratically elected by its members. Decisions taken by the membership will be decided on a one member, one vote basis. The club will develop strong links with the local community and strive to be accessible to all, discriminating against none. The club will endeavour to make admission prices as affordable as possible, to as wide a constituency as possible. The club will encourage young, local participation - playing and supporting - whenever possible. The Board will strive wherever possible to avoid outright commercialism. The club will remain a non-profit organisation Link to comment
Guest LondonScottish
Fair enough they set up a team as a protest against the take-over. If you remember there were marches and demonstrations every week around the time of the sale, with many supporters panicking that the club would go to the wall with debt, Fergie might be forced out and there would be no money for the World's best players. Funnily enough there's no protesting at Old Trafford these days. FC Manchester have probably reached their level, and crowds will more than likely dwindle as the rebels see that the real Manchester Utd are chugging along very nicely thankyou. There can't be a better time to follow Man Utd since they won the Champions League, and if Man Utd was your team, theres no way you'd miss them play to watch some other sh*te no matter what your opinion of the Glazers is. FC United were admitted to the second division of the North West Counties Football League, putting the club at level ten of the English football league system, nine levels below the Premier League. The league had four spare places at the time, so no other club was denied promotion as a result of FC United's admission. The club was formed after the deadline for entering the FA Vase had passed so they were not eligible to play in it in the 2005 Link to comment
robbo
that future aspirations certainly talks a good game, but can they afford to do most of it? If gretna, an SPL side cant pull in anywhere close to 5k a week, how do fc manchester expect to do so? Own stadium, own training facilites? WE cant afford training facilities. Sounds a good idea, but to piss on their parade, it wont happen Link to comment

Their average gates about 3500 I think- easily manage Conference but after that not so sure. Link to comment
