archiemacdougal
Team of the year: David James (Portsmouth), Bacary Sagna (Arsenal), Rio Ferdinand (Man Utd), Nemanja Vidic (Man Utd), Gael Clichy (Arsenal), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal), Cristiano Ronaldo (Man Utd), Ashley Young (Aston Villa), Emmanuel Adebayor (Arsenal), Fernando Torres (Liverpool). Wouldn't argue too much, other than Clichy over Evra. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/7370319.stm Link to comment

Much as Fabregas has been magnificent in conducting Arsenal this seasonm surely Ronaldo had to get it if he won the senior award? (Not that he's bothered) Link to comment
tutankamun
It'll be funny if Chelsea win the title now, since they have no players in the team of the year. And I would have David Bentley or Gareth Barry in midfield instead of Gerrard. All these players will be gutted they are not in the team of the year after the season they've had: P Green (West Ham)J Lescott (Everton)M Laursen (Aston Villa)G Johnson (Portsmouth)S Campbell (Portsmouth)S Distin (Portsmouth)D Berbatov (Tottenham)R Santa Cruz (Blackburn Rovers) Link to comment

K-9
Think Essien has been their stand out. In fact the stand out centre midfielder in the Premiership this season. Link to comment
tutankamun
Correct. Just played very efficiently as a team. A lot of their 'star' players have missed a lot of games this season due to injury. Lampard, Drogba, Terry, Carvalho & Cech have all missed a lot of games this season. Link to comment

Looking back on this season, how many brilliantly worked Man Utd (for example) goals were there, compared to very few for Chelsea. Link to comment

edsheep
think they should sort out this rule about winning player of the year and young player, cause surely ronaldo should be getting both? either that or they should make it a rule that you cant win both. Link to comment
Jaws
Can't argue too much with that team. Bentley possibly could be in there ahead of Gerrard but apart from that it's just about right. In saying that Gerrard still has 11 League goals and plenty assists for Torres which isn't bad. Other awards went to: Best diver: Didier Drogba Cry baby of the season: William Gallas Best own goal: John Arne Riise (ok i know it was the Champions League but couldn't think of one better) Worst signing: Florent Malouda Ugliest player: Sami Hyypia Ugliest manager: Harry Redknapp - closely followed by Southgate and Grant Worst hair-do: Bacary Sagna Biggest flops: Newcastle Most pointless team: Derby Link to comment
OneZanderDiamond
Worst signing: Florent Malouda Biggest flops: Newcastle Malouda worst signing? Don't believe everything you read. He hasn't set the world alight but even looking at Chelsea alone Ben Haim and Sidwell have been a lot worse signings than Malouda. What were you expecting from Newcastle at the start of the season? They're currently tied 11th with Tottenham, just one of the teams who have flopped a lot more than Newcastle. Link to comment

Ben Haim and Sidwell were Bosmans. Spurs have at least won a cup and made a quicker recovery than Newcastle who were worryingly close to the drop at one stage. Link to comment
OneZanderDiamond
These are the league awards so cups don't matter. Spurs were also close to the drop at one stage, they were expected to finish at least 5th if not higher. Newcastle were probably expected to finish mid-tableish maybe 8th or 9th. Also Bolton, European qualifiers most seasons could still be relegated. I'd probably go for them, although these aren't real awards are they Link to comment
