Tommy
uefa should be stepping in here.Far too often clubs are dealing with under contract players/agentsand then announcing details of wages on offer etc to upset the present cluband unsettle the player.uefa don't have the balls to do so though. rgudon
Yes http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_3654140,00.html NO chance this will happen. Glazers and Fergie pretty clear he aint goin anywhere. Cant see Real comming up with the money anyway, Man U would have such a strong bargaining position that they could demand pretty much anything they want. Link to comment
tutankamun
Yes but Fergie also says "no one is bigger than the club". Beckham / Ruud Van Nistelrooy..............who would have said they'd go? Well they did. If Fergie thinks Ronaldo is trying to act like he is bigger than the club, then it will be bye bye Ronaldo. Man U haven't yet managed to replace horse face. Mind you they are still looking for a decent replacement for Kean! Link to comment

Beckham and V Nistelrooy transfers are not even in the same league as Ronaldo, they both left at the right time and it was expected they were leaving. It might be bye bye ronaldo but where are Real gonna get this money because the whole process is gonna be on Man U's terms. Link to comment

Guest SS RED
Think Hargreaves, Carrick and Anderson have surely raplaced Keane. As for Ronaldo, on sky sports news it's reporting that he wants to join real madrid. Strange one. Link to comment
Virgin Don
Don't understand all this talk, Man U are better than madrid. At the moment I would say they are a better team as Madrid seem to be struggling in the cl but with a few decent signings they will be up there with a huge chance. Ronaldo is the best player in Europe at the moment and I hope he signs for Madrid. Spanish league for me is the best in Europe and it would give him the chance to prove himself week in/out. Link to comment
macca18
Maybe he wants to live in Spain, supports Madrid, doesnt like Manchester. Plenty reasons he would leave Link to comment
robbo
Said on SSN that this is the last time hes going to talk about it till after the Euros...so another month of speculation...joy. I cant stand Madrid. Yes hes won all there is to win at united but how about some loyalty to the club that made you a superstar, espec when everyone said you were on your bike after the world cup incident. Even if it were simply 1 more season to try and defend the champions league id respect his decision a bit more...but no. And i agree, Madrid should get battered for this but they wont. Scarface
I want to play for Real Madrid, but only if it is true they are eager to pay me and Manchester United what they have been saying they will. However, it does not depend on me. It is important to send a message. From now on I will not talk again about this until the end of the Euros. It is not worth asking me because I will not reply. Guest rocket_scientist
Most people connected with Manchester are well aware that selling Beckham at that time was a mistake, although hindsight is a wonderful thing. The real Real fans thought signing Beckham was a mistake. When Makelele left, Real Madrid weren't the same force. Beckham's contribution and influence on the team was negligible, but with the departure of Claude, their midfield weren't nearly as organised and effective. Remember they won nothing for the first three years Beckham was there, probably the longest trophy-drought in their illustrious history. Then they brought in Capello for Beckham's final year, and Fabio starts dropping him to the bench, then cuts him out altogether for weeks on end, when he was fully fit, bringing him back only for a handful of the last few games of the season where they finally won La Liga. Guest LondonScottish
who are most people and why was it a mistake?? The season after Beckham left was one of Manchester Utd's worst in recent years. Fergie got rid of Beckham for more than footballing reasons, but left the team wanting. Van Nistelrooy felt the loss the most, as much of amazing goalscoring rate he put down to his superb on-field relationship with Beckham, who was arguably the best passer in the EPL. From Nisterooy taking a record goals haul the previous season, Manchester Utd's whole strike rate dropped considerably without the quality of ball from Beckham. Ronaldo, although very young, was considered more of a show-pony, with step-overs and flicks that by and large came to nothing. This more than frustrated the strikers. I'm sure you'll find both goals for and goal difference between the two seasons was considerably large. Although Manchester Utd may have won the FA cup 3-0 against Millwall, the quality of football throughout the season was way below their usual standard, leaving them languishing in third place in the league and knocked out extremely early from Europe (albeit against the eventual winners , Porto, but who should have been there for the taking). With no decent balls from midfield, the strikers were frustrated, and games that usually would have been easy became a struggle. The loss of Beckham was there for all to see who understand football, with reference made throughout the season. Fergie usually gets things right, but he could have done with DB for one more season until Ronaldo had matured. Link to comment

I dont think the writer can justify man u's poor season/goalscoring wholly down to beckham leaving, possibly has another agenda there. At the end of the day his relationship with fergie was pretty sour (after fergie miskicked a boot at his face), rejected a new contract and we still got decent money for him. If he had stayed another year we might have not got the same money for him as hype surrounding him was pretty high at the time and at the end of the day, money talks, so i think he left at the right time for the club as a whole.
