Guest SS RED
I think money is ruining football, after today at Man City. Would a simple change in rules sort things out, such as The owner of your club has to be from your country. Gets rid of Abromovich, glazors, gilletes, Abu Dhabi United, Thaksin etc. etc. It's gone too far, it's not a fair playing field anymore, Sky can go bust aswell. Link to comment
The_Next_Legend
Exactly, other teams cannot compete, its more like playing football manager and cheating its nae fair Link to comment
Guest SS RED
Listening to 5 live now, you hear more points of view on there, all you hear on sky sports news is yes MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY. Sky started it all of they love it but it's not good for the propor fans for example how much is a ST at Spurs, chelsea, Man U etc.? I support Spurs but they have spent millions and millions and won 2 league cups in ten years and I bet there ST's are about a grand, how can they justify that? Paying a grand to see what was a shambles of a defence and a 12th place finsih, it's crazy. Hope Sky goes bust. Also Why don't all these guys show a bit of spine and put money into football in there own countries, I bet Thailand is crying out for football facilities yet Thaksin puts his millions in to Man City, seems abit spineless and greedy to me. The_Next_Legend
i get what your sayin... all it takes is for a couple of billianairse to come to scotland and make them into great teams and everyone else will start to do it, soon daarn mackie type players will be worth 40million Link to comment
Guest SS RED
I would only be happy if the rich owner was a genuine fan of the club like Stewart Milne, I wonder how many Man U players Glazor could name 5 years ago. Link to comment

The_Next_Legend
yh ano!!! But in all honesty, i think what stewart milne is doin is good, coz we dont have the fans to pay for ppls wages every week, and we would end up going inot too much debt and go bust in like 10yeasr time!!! niallyblair
I totally agree with you on this SS. Robinho's move to Man City just shows how much money rules football now. Calderon criticised him saying the move was not done for sporting reasons and he's exactly right. Robinho is the type of player that should be playing at one of the world's top teams in the CL, not for an average side in the Uefa Cup. It's ridiculous. For the exact same reasons that I hoped Gretna would fail, I now wish the same for Man City and I have always disliked Chelsea. I hope I'm not alone in this view! Link to comment

Not looking to have a pop, but do you have Sky? I do cos believe it or not the missus bought it. True. Me and the loon were'nt bothered and I have been anti fitba on the TV ever since it started in terms of live games. Real football died the day that the stay at homes won over the guys who go to the games. What does TV bring to the game? SFA. Ronaldo, Ferdinand, etc would still play the game but on a fraction of what they earn now. So we'd still see them play but not all in the EPL which would just be a league on a relative par with Spain, Italy and Germany. The Dons would also be far better off if it hadn't happened. If only someone could shoot the satellites down............ Link to comment
paulkaneatemyhamster
How much money does each team get from SKY ? if you're owned by a Arab royal family with billions in the bank, surely sky's money is pocket money ( realtivley speaking) when there will be a problem is when the big 4 in england( can we make it a big 5 just yet ?) want to negotiate thier own TV deal, or even seperatley. Then we will see the lesser lights of the EPL struggle. however for all those that say , it's bad for the game. Regardless of who owns the club, genuine talent WILL and DOES come through. and if smaller clubs down the footballing ladder go under, well I'm sorry for the fans of those clubs, but you cannot blame the Man Utd#s and the Chelsea's of this world for the failings of the board at say Luton or rotherham. And if those teams do go bust i'm sure there will be teams from outside the FL who are bettter prepared to face the modern game and can take thier places in the footballing pyramid. Link to comment

BUT it's not always about the winning of trophies, some of the most entertaining matches in recent years have been at the Lane. I would pay extra money to be entertained like that..... PS Corluka will help the defence immensely as he will cover for Hutton and either of the centre halfs. i think our defence looks nae bad now (on paper). Link to comment

The size of the big group is dependent on the CL places, so it remains a four. I think Liverpool or Arsenal will fall out of it which could put, particularly Liverpool in soapy bubble. Guest SS RED
I think the 4 places for Champions League Football should be cut to 3 for sure and maybe even 2 (but I would prefer 3). 3 from Spain, Italy, Germany and England seems fair. It doesn't seem right that the champions of Sweden don't get straight in but half to qualify with the 4th place from the Prem. Link to comment
True_Don
Money will rip the soul out of football. I also think something will done, businesses are not allowed a monopoly in the market, so neither should football clubs. Now we have Man City and Chelsea with huge amounts of investment. Man Utd and Liverpool have earned their money from their fan base and have attracted investment over the years. What's the point in any other team trying to compete, take the risk of spending loads of money and going bust? EPL will become a closed shop, unless 8-10 teams can attract substantial investment, and even then it would be a two tier league... I think this may well be the start of the ending for the EPL and a European super league beckons. Link to comment
Red Dragon
What? When did this money in football thing happen? Money killed football long ago, the formation of the EPL being the beginning. But,instead of you, I and the other Sky punter fuelling it, it is now funded by rich foreigh investors. Nothing really new just the figures get larger, the pay cheques get fatter and the nationality of the investors gets farther afield. Link to comment

Nothing but a gravy train pandering to the biggest clubs, a closed shop but to an elite few and those lucky enough scrape in against the odds. Link to comment
TheChimp
How long before the Premiership becomes a closed shop with no relegation? Then they will sell franchises around the world. If these guys stick around at City, expect them to become Abu Dhabi Allstars in the next 20 years. Link to comment
