fatshaft
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...sea/7614903.stm What an utter disgrace, England captain allowed to do as he pleases...Chelsea captain John Terry has been cleared to play against Manchester United on Sunday after his appeal against a red card proved successful. Terry was sent off for a foul on Manchester City striker Jo, but a Football Association hearing upheld Chelsea's claim of wrongful dismissal. He received a straight red from Mark Halsey, with the referee deeming the incident to be serious foul play. The England skipper had been set to miss three games. Had the ban been enforced, Terry would have missed Sunday's crucial Premier League clash with champions United, as well as the Carling Cup tie against Portsmouth on 24 September and the league encounter with Stoke three days later. It was never a red card offense, if indeed there was an offense as looked like no contact made either. Correct decision in this case. Link to comment

Correct decision in this case. Never a question it would be appealed and in fairness quite correctly. It was a terrible decision. Link to comment

Not the first time Chelsea have appealed a decision successfully to allow a player to face Man Utd is it? Link to comment

Correct decision in this case. For him to get off, there had to be no offence, as opposed to the red maybe being too harsh and it should have been a yellow. It was a harsh red, but it was given for serious foul play after Terry tried to trip and then pushed the player to the ground. Poor red perhaps, even poorer reversal. Link to comment
Guest SS RED
I thought it was a red card, jo went past him and him and robinho were through against just Carvalho. Link to comment

I didnt appreciate that they cannot downgrade to a yellow. Whilst never a red card offence it's annoying he gets nothing for it. Link to comment
Jaws
Been changed to a yellow - as it should have been. Ah but has it though? Apparently reds can't be downgraded from red to yellow so Chelsea would have had to argue that it never warranted a yellow either. Why reds can't be downgarded to yellow i have no idea as that sounds ridiculous. Now i agree that it wasn't a red and he shouldn't have went but it was a definite booking for cynical play so the decision to now give him nothing is completely wrong. Link to comment

Chelsea do seem to have more claim to these types than most teams though for some reason. Link to comment

Totally agree - when first saw it, it should of only been a yellow but for it to now be nothing is ridiculous. Something has to be done with the rules to allow reds to be downgraded to yellows if need be. Link to comment
