If I became Scotland Manager tomorrow...

  1. 1. How would I deal with the Kris Boyd situation

    • Best goalscorer we have, first XI every game
      8
    • First XI at home against the 'wee' teams
      10
    • Bench every game for when we need that late goal
      7
    • Squad player - nothing more
      1
    • Fat, shocking attitude, 'retired' under last manager, will never be picked by me

Last option.

No way back for him if I was in charge and same goes for Lee McCulloch or anyone else who does the same. I wouldn't of taken Davie Weir back either.

:tumbleweed: Exactly the same option and thought here. No way should he get to represent his country again along with his mate McCulloch. David "I don't wish to play for Scotland again" Weir should never have been picked to return to the Scotland fold but you can thank his hun pal Smith for that.

i went with the top option not because i agree with it, but its the closest to what i would do.

he offers us something we dont really have, penalty box striker who puts the chances away. I wouldnt say he should be in the starting 11 every game but he should either be in the 11 or on the bench and come on...not sit there gathering dust.

i dont think this spat is just a thing between him and burley though...it seems such a trivial thing that someone must have happened either at Rangers or in his personal life and this is just where its happened to spill over. Good sit down chat with the guy, arm around the shoulder method, see what you can get from him. Make him feel wanted but know that the want comes with some conditions. Hes probably heard the whole "lazy and unfit" angle a million times so just switches off. Need to be more tactful and approach from a different angle.

after listening to Burleys interview last night for the first time i went for the last option

the press (especially the glasgow tabloids) have beene swarming all over this "you should start playing well for your team" part of GB's interview but when you here the whole thing GB certainly emphasises more on the attitude he wants and what he wants from them in training.

i think he couldnt name Boyd as a lazy nut with a poor attitude but the message was there.

Difficult one - he may have a shocking attitude but there is no doubt he can score goals - do i cut off my nose to spite my face - were we in the delightful position of having a number to choose from I'd cut him loose but we aren't - going hardline is unlikely to improve matters even if is a lazy, arrogant gobshite - I'd keep him and use him and tell him he is important to my plans.

I'd take him at Todders bad attitude or not - at least he knows where the net is.

Footballers aren't angels and each takes individal handling - it's a managers job to get the best out of each one - to have lost two so quickly and sent morale into a nose dive is certainly giving me pause for thought and I initially thought Burley wasn't too bad a choice

Same here VDA. I was very much on Boyd's side on this one, until I saw Burley's interview on Monday night, and totally changed my view, and actually he gained a lot of respect in my eyes for what he was saying.

I also have to wonder whether after two Hun managers (sorry Big Eck), is Burley not falling over himself with regards to Hun players, and some of the Billy big times are not liking it? Funny that McCulloch, Boyd, and captain Ned are the ones showing signs of discontent.

Could it be their attitudes are dragging down morale of the team, and contributing to our rocky start under GB?

:itch-chin: Vrey good comment. This has been knowingly overlooked by the west of Scotland hacks and pundits.

I've been having a good think about this and I would say

If you retire, that's you finished, finito!

I have sympathy for Boyd as I don't rate Burley and has a

Great scoring record. However the national team SHOULD

Be the pinnacle of your short career. McCoist would and

should have told him that. Guys like Scott Gemmill and even

Tommy Burns hardly got a look in at National level but

Both their attitudes were superb . Indeed Boyd can join the

Queue of losers including Duncan Ferguson!goodbye!

Once you turn your back on your country that's it as far as I'm concerned.

No crawling back.

I would tend to agree but what if Boyd goes on a run scoring a goal a game, finally buckles down and wises up?

He only said he wouldn't play for Burley again. Let the matter lie and if he's doing the business after Burley goes, whenever that may be, door open.

Still a tit thing to do though. Sulking prick.

I think boyd should never play for scotland again, moaning hun mink.

What gives him the right to think he deserves a game for scotland when he can't get a game for the huns.

Hmm, a footballer is a worker, and in the free market, a worker is somebody who sells their labour. Every worker has (or should have) the right to withdraw labour if they are unhappy with their working conditions.

That said, it's clear that successive Hun managers have not treated him as a first choice because he does not have the attitude and lifestyle that a professional footballer needs, so I chose the last option.

Interesting that Clubfoot was also on SKy the other night and 'backs Boyd 100%'.

What sort of message is that? He should get the chop as well if he's not prepared to back the manager or simply shut up.

Interesting that a player like Beckham is flying thousands of miles over from America to happily warm the bench for England/take a small cameo.

It just smacks me as pure arrogance on Boyd's behalf.

If Ilewumo had taken that chance, which he would have "99 times out of 100" then we would have won the game 1-0 and Burley's substitutions would have been perceived as tacticually astute. Would he still have quit then?

Boyd should never play for Scotland again. He can GTF!

Fair enough he scores goals, but offers f-all else, and doesn't have the right attitude. He will always score goals against the diddy teams but is too lazy and arrogant to ever make it as a top player.

For him to think he should be an automatic pick when he doesn't even get a game for the huns is a joke, every manager he's played under seems reluctant to start him so there must be a reason.

Arrogant tw*t
