I have to admit I was expecting this weeks episode to be really offensive when I read that Cartman would be the main focus of an episode called The Coon! Instead it was parody of The Dark Knight. Yea, I think they can pretty much do an episode a week these days. As you said the animation is basic but in the old days it was done using stop-start animation with cut outs and the like.
