I love cricket and I especially love test cricket. I dont care much for 1 day or 20/20 and I think that a well balanced test match can be extremely exciting.

However, the recent advent of 20/20, Chris Gayle's outrageous comments about him not caring if test matches didnt happen and just the sheer amount of cricket played nowadays is beginning to put me off.

I know that the death of the long form of the game has been predicted often enough in the past but when I see the Australians playing in front of 1 man and his parrott in the West Indies or a test match played in England in May I kinda feel that the end is nigh.

I hope it isnt the case but I'm worried that the over commercialisation of the game is turning it into just another business which seeks to expolit television revenues at the expense of the fans...the likes of Flintoff and Pietersen behaving like footballers isnt what I expect of a cricket player....I expect more class.

anyone else got any opinions?

Have to say I am pretty bored with Test cricket and wouldn't get excited about the winter tours these days. Only really follow it in the summer.

Will watch the Ashes when I can.

Also think playing 8 one dayers against the aussies or whatever it is pointless and no one ends up caring what the score is or even knowing. Whereas if you played 3 would be better.

Test match cricket boring and more to do about winning the initial toss than anything else. 1 day and 20/20 at least produces a bit of excitement.

A good test match is mega exciting, but you just don't know what you're going to get until the game starts progressing. I've been to some stormers, but some double boring ones as well.....luckily enough the hospitality is excellent.

I can watch all formats of the game , But of course the ODI and T20 makes it more watchable.

Day 2 of a 5 day test with the run rate going at 2.5 per over can be pretty boring

India, Pakistan , Sri Lanka and now west Indies have all pretty much said test cricket is 2nd choice behind the shorter format. You can see that by their itinerary over the year.

Test cricket can be good if there is still the chance of 3 results on the last day , But that is few and far between

just cant understand how you might be hundreds of runs ahead and coz it rain you draw!??

Cricket is rank.

Don't let it rain then.

Did England not win a match against the West indies on the d/l method after the windies coach f**ked up?

Yip , He miss calculated the D/L method thinking West Indies had won if they walked off when the rain came, But England won by 1 run.

This was a ODI game.

A draw can be very memorable. For instance a team has 5 wickets left and has to bat all day to avoid losing. Watching that kind of game can be exciting and the sheer concentration needed in amazing.

However, im worried that there is too much cricket and that the pitches arent 'result' pitches. Too many flat tracks out there....

Corp ent at cricket is phenominal...Trent Bridge during the last Ashes was great....

The fit method? Explain please!

The Duckworth-Lewis rule comes into effect in one day cricket if the game cannot continue due to bad weather.

Its a way of calculating, using wickets in hand and overs left, a satisfactory result.

Cheers. I was always under the impression that it was a draw in all forms of cricket. Thats one less reason to hate it.
