Dumbarton Football Club has confirmed that its captain has been killed in a crash.

 

Gordon Lennon died in an accident near Inverness on Sunday. The 26-year-old led his side to promotion to Division Two at the end of last season.

 

The club's website states: "Dumbarton Football Club regret to announce the death of Gordon Lennon following a tragic accident."

 

The club said it would be issuing a statement in due course.

By all accounts an inspirational captain, who was terrific this season.

 

Very, very sad news.... Dumbarton is a family club and it'll take everyone connected with club a long time to get over this.
