MMG
I've been to Tynecastle and Hampden in 2008 and Hampden today. In these three games the opposition have had 14 clear cut chances (including Commons cross today) and have scored 12 goals. That's an average of 4.6 chances per game resulting in 4 goals cenceded per game. Where do we point the finger of blame? Are our keepers in these games to blame? Possibly Diamond and Considine, who have played in all 3 games? Have the tactics by the managers cost us goals? Or maybe even us as fans, do we create a nervous or negative atmosphere for our players? Once was unfortunate, twice was stupid, thrice is unforgivable. P.S. I was also at the Scottish Cup Final in 2000 when we lost 4-0 to the Huns so it could just be me?? Link to comment
TynesideDon
It was clear from the first whistle that the players were once again going to freeze on the big occassion and by the time they had pulled themselves together the game was already over. The 2nd half display was quite encouraging but celtic had clearly taken their foot off the gas by then and seemed to be treating it more as an energy saving excercise. I don't think any proportion of the blame can be aimed at the 13,000+ Dandies who I felt gave the team magnificent support and even at 4-1 down we were outsinging them. I actually thought they were very subdued except for the 2 sections directly behind the goal and even at the end over 75% of Aberdeen supporters were still there which was very heartening to see. I'm just hoping we can make it through to the Semi Finals of the big cup now and right this horrible wrong. Stand Free. Link to comment
RUL
I doubt we'd sell as many tickets for another semi, especially against one of the old firm, this season. Link to comment

The chances of drawing one of them will be halved seeing as they play each other next.Present form I don't know which one i would prefer.Celtic would probably be best as with all these matches we have to win one sooner or later. ChookterDon
i'd of said rangers was the easier tie, our tactics seem to work better against them. Link to comment

Depressing but certainly seems that some of our players are bottling it when they play on the big stage. Link to comment
The Don
that's one hell of a damning statistic and encapsulates a lot of our problems : freezing on the big stage, inability to reorganise etc once we had a set-back early on. Yesterday was embarrassing and if Celtic hadn't taken their feet off the pedal in the second half, it would have been so much worse. Langfield is a liability at the best of times, but in games like this he seems to lose it completely and this filters through the rest of the defence. Link to comment
King Street Loon
I doubt we'd sell as many tickets for another semi, especially against one of the old firm, this season.A lot of folk will definitely be wary of traipsing down to Hampden again to watch our team not turn up again when it matters, irrespective of who we'd play in the game. The Oxford Don
Aye, the 2-1 win against Hibs in 2000 was the last time we DIDN'T concede four goals in a semi-final. I love being a Dons fan, it's awesome. Link to comment

I love being a Dons fan, it's awesome. It's a life of football purgatory. Should I subject my wee one to it or is it a form of abuse? I still haven't decided. Been to every Hampden match/semi final since the first Hibs semi. All bar that replay have been utterly abysmal. The Dons never fail to let you down! Link to comment

Celtic came out of the traps at 100mph and we couldn't and didn't handle it. Couldn't string two passes together and invited pressure on ourselves. You could quite easily push any blame out to the midfield for not effectively reducing pressure on the defence. Or the defence for being a bit rubbish. Or the attack for providing little to no stickability when releasing the ball. I'm still blocking 2008 out of memory. It's better that way. And the "keeper" in 2000 didn't look any less competent than Clangers yesterday. Link to comment
