madjockmcferson
Agree with every word, and it's nae often ye can say that with Smithy. Not a good article. When was the last time a rugby match or ice hockey match in this country ended up with city wide violence? This isn't a one off it's happened several times. That is a pattern. Also, since when did passion involve managers scuffling on the touchline, dozens of arrests and racist abuse? Poor article. Link to comment
StandFree1982
It's not surprising, it's the way society is these days. A topic comes up that is fairly high profile and EVERYONE jumps on the bandwagon. Exactly the same when we get a wee bit of snow and we've got 1 hour long news reports telling us how the world is going to end and we've gotta close the airports. The same happens when swine flu, bird flu, horse flu etc came out and it was going to kill everyone! Link to comment

Poor article. That has got f**k all to do with a football match. if folk going to a game can't leave the game without having a fecht afterwards, then that is a social problem, not a sporting one. And what is the social problem in Glasgow?, the left fitters dinna get on with the ither lot. Link to comment

The guy in the article made a poor comparison between football and other sports....the truth is footbal is the only sport which has these problems. And it isn't mock outrage.....it happened and there is a history of it happening time and time again. Link to comment

The mock outrage relates to the complaints about the game, so if you're switching back to that argument rather than the social problems, then the comparisons Smithy makes with Rugby, and Ice Hockey in particular are more than valid. Betty Swallicks
Its a joke.Fine them, play behind closed doors then if they still keep up their shyte songs etc take points off them.Problem solved. It would make the spl better too.Summits my @rse. Link to comment
madjockmcferson
I agree its a social problem. But that makes it worse, what does it say about us as a country that this is a societal problem. Its pathetic. Link to comment
dervish
Was watching this game in a place miles away from weige with some long distance (but have to say dedicated huns*) and it nearly kicked off some 300 miles from the game. Nothing like the old firm attracts people with nothing else. Edit: *Was the tims who started it but the strip means nothing they are all the same. Link to comment
a don in oz
The SFA/SPL/someone said at least 2 years ago that sectarian songs would lead to points being removed. So that happened right? There's the problem. Lots of thunder and lightning but not very very frightening at all. Link to comment

Agree, particularly with the section in bold. This story even made the news in Australia - it was embarrassing. Also, anyone who uses the term "mock outrage" is a tit. Link to comment
fatshaft
Agree, particularly with the section in bold. This story even made the news in Australia - it was embarrassing. I must have missed the dozens of arrests & racist abuse. Were there invisible policemen on the pitch aresting invisible players? The passion of the game is one thing, people getting arested in the stands and afterwards is a different matter. The 'mock outrage' Smithy is talking about, is relating to those who said the game was a disgrace. For that reason, I'm sort of wondering where all the angst was during and after the English old Firm game last weekend, three brutal tackles, and groups of players squaring up to each other, so where's the government intervention there? It was a feisty game, the sort we all like to see, but some are just using this as a kick the old firm excercise. Yes they deserve it on many points, but not on this occassion. Also, anyone who uses the term "mock outrage" is a tit.Totally agree, and it is a much overused term on here. Link to comment
