Dynamo
Has anyone noticed this? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/12852316.stm What a joke. Talk about belittling your own league. Champions league games have f**k all to do with either side of the OF (thank f**k) just now, and I'm pretty sure there is more than 1 Sky Sports channel....What you think? Link to comment
stand_free
Is it not a rule that UEFA have in place? It's a sh*te one. Imagine the crowd will take a hit with folk no longer being able to make it, or nae being arsed to rush to get there. Link to comment
deco_1985
Is it not to do with some silly rule that Uefa has with Sky, that says there can't be a live match on tv at the same time as Champions League? Thats why our Scottish Cup replay wasn't on tv. I could be wrong though. No doubt we'll get OF fans moaning about kick off time. Lets see them travelling 3 and a half hours on a Sunday morning for a semi final! Link to comment

Same as the unwritten rule that all OF away games have to be on TV. Link to comment
ollie1903
The six o'clock kick-offs were made necessary by the desire to show the Old Firm visits to McDiarmid Park on television.Scottish Premier League secretary Iain Blair told BBC Scotland: "We are not allowed to go ahead-to-head with Uefa club competitions, so that is the principal reason for the two matches kicking off at 6pm."I do sympathise with the fans. I know that those who want to attend the matches will not find a 6pm kick-off at all satisfactory. Sympathise with the fans my arse. You don't give a f**k about attending fans, only the fat, Pringle eating, Tennents drinking lazy arses. But that's ok, in 10 years or so there won't be any attending games for you to sympathise about. Job done. Link to comment

vanderark14
its because people in this country and indeed people on this site just GOBBLE UP an excuse to display mock outrage its embarassing or maybe its because those Europa games have f**k all to with football in this country. Link to comment
Bamber
the SFAs hands are tied on this one, it is a Uefa directive. well not really The directive is they cant be on TV at the same time as CL matches, nothing stopping the game being played at the same time as CL matches off camera Link to comment

The ordinary, paying fan are being triple teamed up the arse by the sybian (uefa) the 12" black dildo (tv) and the 6" battery operated rubbit which is the sfa. My obvious hatred of Rangers fans aside, they should not be asked go to Perth for a 6pm kick off on a Tuesday tea time. Link to comment
THE GRIM SHEEPER
We kicked off against Bayern to a full house at 6pm, I know its Bayern and it would have sold out no matter when it kicked off, but we were happy to have our match played to suit German TV, so the fact that the old firm are kicking off at 6 doesn't matter, besides, they are the 2 biggest supported clubs in the country with the lions share of the fans in every town and city in the country (including Aberdeen) so filling thier end shouldnt be an issue. I also think that most St Johnstone fans will come from Perth so the problem is where???? Link to comment

Trojan
UEFA cup games, sorry Europa League games, are now played at 6pm during the week but there is no outcry over these games. Maybe because the home fans have to travel at most for half an hour to get to the game (99% of them anyway) whilst the away fans will have arrived in the city AT LEAST a day before. No one has a journey time of 3+hrs to make after work on the day of the game for a european match. Link to comment

Where are these fans coming from that it takes 3 hours? I can be pretty close to England in 3 hours from Aberdeen and its over an hour to Perth! though i accept the sentiment, we had 20K for a match at 3 vs Bayern but people would do a half day for that, a game vs rangers at a similar time wouldnt really hold the pull tbh Mind you doing well fighting for top spot in the league for a 530 KO I reckon the crowds will come whatever the time Link to comment

Tuesday 30 Mar 2010 6,189Tuesday 5 Apr 2011 5,820 About a 6% drop off for a 6 pm ko - hardly earth shattering in fact given attendances at perth are about 17% down on last season argueably its been a success? Trojan
3 hours was just plucked out of my head. You'd do anything you can to get to a euro tie....not for an SPL game. Just makes the euro comparison irrelevant and more reason to make sure SPL games kick off at a reasonable time. Link to comment

Trojan
The match attending fans loyalty exploited by the modern football money machine and no one has the balls to do anything because 'its ok, the figures are still the same'. Link to comment
Bamber
Gonna stop talking sh*te you. St Johnstone were 2points off top 6 at this time last season - they still had a lot to play for. There is no comparison to be made as they currently have nothing to play for - same as us. So they have nothing to play for, yet basically the same attendance as last year with different KO times Everything to play for 745 KO 6189Nothing to play for 600KO 5820 If anything that strengthens the arguement that the KO time made no difference at all to the crowd Link to comment
