ericblack4boss
One of the top class players that Alex Miller promised us on his arrival as manager Dow had been bought for a nominal fee from Hibs, where he had prvoiusly served under Miller. madjockmcferson
Liking your posts but I bit of punctuation would be good. He had a good free-kick on him and should have been a better player than he was. Remember him having a great season then being pish. Link to comment
tup
He was rubbish, best of a very bad lot at that stage. Even he couldna believe how good he looked in comparison to the utter dross he teamed up with. Link to comment
RAZOR
It truly was Andy Dows Barmy Army! Link to comment
tup
I felt thoroughly ashamed he achieved hero status at that time. Here's this useless mop headed c**t, Hibs reject, banging up and down the wing, like a before his time Gareth out of The Office, no skill whatsoever, miraculously scored several flukes off the back of stramashes for a few games in a row, 4 goals made him the Dons top hitman, and before he knew it people were throwing themselves at his feet as he walked through the Trinity Centre of an efternoon. Once we got some decent players in his feet didna touch the ground. Garbage is my overall verdict. Where is he now? My guess is offshore. Link to comment
ollie1903
Andy Dow was average at his very best. Link to comment
a don in oz
The best way to regard Andy Dow was as 'any port in a storm'. That season was heart braking... worst in Europe, looking 100% clueless and then someone popped up and managed something, anything. Yes, he was average at best though, but being surrounded by mediocrity he stood out. And that was my last season in Scotland... or last half of a season. Dismal. Link to comment
Dandyjam
It truly was Andy Dows Barmy Army! Remember chanting this on a number of occasions in 99-00 season! Absolute hero in that season, scoring first league goal, winner against Huns in League Cup quarter and winner against Hibs in Scottish Cup semi. He wasn't very good but became an important player in that season then did nothing else thereafter. I remember thinking at the time he deserved a place in the Scotland squad but looking back that was probably stupid! Link to comment

That's an epic sentence! One of the better performers during a shameful era. As Tup alluded to, the older lads who used to attend games in the 80s must have been horrified by the adulation Dow used to receive from the younger section of our support. Link to comment
