InTaeEm
http://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/Article.aspx/2229332 Just read in evening express about Aluko wanting a new deal, got to admit I really didn't see this one coming... He has farely picked up his game back to what he used to be capable of in recent weeks but I just figured he was doing in because he could and he wanted a bigger club to come in for him, maybe this isn't the case then... Full respect to him again for this! We'd be stupid to let him go in my opinion.. Link to comment

I think it's good news, but guess that depends on whether it's "sign me up on the same deal" or "sign me up on 5 grand a week" Link to comment
K-9
Overall doesn't deserve a new deal on top money. If willing to take big pay cut then maybe but 1 good game in 6 or 7 isn't the way forward despite his effort levels upping in last month or so as contract is up. Link to comment
BigSmokeDon
I really hope Aluko signs as he does have fantastic talent and we can only hope to see that with more good players around him. I think if we keep Vernon, Maguire, Magennis up front we can get rid of Blackman and replace him with a quality striker the we have a decent forward line. Folly, Fyvie, Milsom, Aluko, Pawlett, Hartley, Jack. We need another one or two wing players and a really creative midfielder. This would leave us with a strong midfield when everyone is fit and take a little pressure off the youngsters. Defence is the one that really needs work on. Considine, Diamond, Vuja really not up to the standard of a decent side and MacNamee and Robertson okay as fullback cover.I still think Foster looks like a better player in a side whose wages cost more each week than our transfer fees, but he will probably be back to hoofing the ball aimlessly when he's back in our side.I would like to keep smith on as he seems a good full back, but we need 2 central defenders badly. I really think that with 5 or 6 quality signings in the summer, we will be a decent side as long as we dont lose Aluko or Maguire. Link to comment

Yeah definately, if its him that wants a new contract rather than demanding one, he must be willing to stick to same wages and maybe if he played at his best all the time he'd make more off his bonuses etc. There's too much tw*ts in the squad who sit there and moan for more wages, maybe if they played to their best every game they would get better contract offersd and not have to sit there quietly and have their agents stick up for them... diamondsr4ever
Too much. unless we know his current deal then I cant comment, he is the only guy who makes things happen in our team, (on his day) however his style of wing play does lead to inconsisdent performances, and can get a lot of attention from visiting defences. if the price and deal is right, keep him Link to comment
Stoney
Stevie Smith, Milsom and not far behind aluko in the pishness stakes but on far less money is paton. Link to comment
K-9
is there a better left sided player at the club?Hopefully next season. Shouldn't be too hard a job. But if Smith counts (as only on loan) then he is far better overall. Link to comment
Iraq_Red
Although there is now now loyalty in football, I feel Aluko owes us at least a year, after all his injuries and loss of form Link to comment

Aluko makes things happen, pace, good shot....Id like to see him given a role up front, or a free role off the main striker Link to comment

But not sure Aberdeen owe him another year!! On his overall form from this season and previous i can't see many other clubs making move for him either. Link to comment

K-9
injuries have hampered his season, a fit Aluko would be excellentBeen fit since October. Had a couple of wee strains as have many other players but missed very few games since then.Overall at Aberdeen in 122 games he has shown very little bar few glimpses of promise but is more prone to poor attitude bursts and uninterested in games rather than turning it on. StandFree1982
I think he's played MUCH better overall since Brown took over. I would love to see him fit and in a more confident winning team. I think even Messi would have a sh*t attitude in this squad of losers! Link to comment
Tommy
I wonder if his agent has told him that he's struggling to find a club for himand he's decided that it's a case of better the devil he knows. He aint done enough to convince me that he cant be replaced.Loads of talent but far too often i've felt he wasn't really interested. K-9
Hounded out of the club like Mackie you mean? Just a quick couple of questions so that I know where your football opinions lie: Who is better: Mackie or Aluko? Can you name 5 Aberdeen players in the past 5 years who have the ability to produce outstanding skill / inventiveness?I would love a player with the attitide and application Mackie gives along witht eh skill that Aluko posesses but unfortunately we have a player with excellent apllication and attitude giving their all for the team and another with bags of skill but half the time doesn't bother his arse and often becomes a hinderence. Last 5 years have been instantly forgettable for players who turn it on regularly. Some have produced magic moments but they are few and far between. But that doesn't mean we have to stick with status quo, especially when you could use the wages for better value for money. Link to comment

Just seems his recent bit of "form" has coincided with him putting in more effort in games which in turn has coincided with him being out of contract in summer with not much interest in him and no offer on table from us to even fall back on. Crossbow
I'd happily give Sone a new deal - he is one of two players we currently have who are potentially match winners by their own skill. Sure he doesn't do it every game; few would who were being marked by 2 or 3 defenders. We're not exactly a hard team to figure out for the opposition. Mark out Bebo and Sone - then they'll have nothing but hoofball. If he has more support then he'd be better - as an aside one of the few really good moments on Sunday was seeing three players over on the left wing against the paranoid paddies, lots of options, genuinely excited for a moment - shame the cross wasn't up to it. We need proper width and that means proper supporting fullbacks. I agree he's been better under Brown - he has options out wide - we had nothing when we had no fullbacks. Link to comment
tightbreeks
If he gets a decent foil to work with then it could be a good thing. Link to comment
GK55
sign him up - one of the only players at Pittodrie with genuine football talent. OK, doesnt always show it, but for me, give him a season or 2 to see what he can do under Brown and Knox. Link to comment
Quanny
Hope he signs. He is a bit hit and miss but when he plays well he is great. I think the hit and miss play is cause of the MM fall out, a bit of work with CB and AK and he will be a better player. Link to comment
madjockmcferson
Aluko has the talent. He is one of the very few signings of the last 15 years which really excited me. He is clearly the most gifted player on the pitch. I hope his talent isn't wasted and he goes on to fulfil his potential. Link to comment
Stoneybloke
I'm equivocal about whether he signs or not. I agree that his game has picked up since McGhee left and he is good to watch at times, but whether he warrants an increase at this stage is debatable. During this season you can't say that his contribution has won many matches for us, and like Maguire, he can be pushed off the ball too easily. Overall, I'd like him to stay but I wouldn't go out of my way to offer him a better deal. Link to comment
wilco91
Aluko is a decent player, only problem is he is not fit enough to perform at a high standard during 90 minutes, the magic of mcghee even made a raw talent like aluko made to look sh*te. CB needs to instuct players to give him the ball and he will do well Link to comment
The Oxford Don
Aluko is a good player who IMO gets played out of position. Whenever I've seen him up top he looks excellent. I think he looks lost wide left and only gets played there because he's the only player in our team who has a decent left foot. Anyway even if the plan is to play him wide left I'd still keep him, and am pleased that he wants to stay. Link to comment
