The Uneven Distribution Of Income In European Football

There surely has to be a tipping point soon where UEFA start to see the damage that is being done to the game outwith 4 or 5 countries - and event the damage done to the prospects of domestic players even in some of those richer leagues.

 

There needs to come a point where either other leagues are included in the party - a true European Champions League - or they start using some of the CL revenue to prop up the incomes of clubs in weaker leagues - youth development grants, where clubs receive a payment every time a player they brought through their own system gets played might be a possibility.

 

One of the reasons that the Scottish National Team are struggling is that our best prospects are hoovered up to sit on benches down South (or in Glasgow) and never get the football they need to develop because even the lower leagues have more money.

as long as TV channels continue to line the pockets of a handful of teams and UEFA, nothing will change. The demand is there to watch the same sides every year compete for the top prizes. The amount of Man United/Liverpool/Chelsea/Arsenal/Barca/Real Madrid "fans" out there is unbelievable nowadays.

 

the game has changed for the worse as far as I'm concerned, plenty of folk are happy enough with it though so it won't change back.
