stumain
Flashes of brilliance but injury prone, light weight, un interested at times and not consistent enough. Cheers sone for you efforts and that bayern goal will be forever remembered. Link to comment

tup
He's not really been motivated for some time now, when he's on top of his game he can be brilliant, but it happens once in a blue moon, he's the modern day Joe Miller. Link to comment
barassie_afc
Wonder what shitty outfit he will end up at Link to comment

Can't agree there, looks to me like he has been one of the few motivated players, now we know why. Link to comment

Well he has all the fancy touches and skill in the world but the end product is sorely lacking. I'd much prefer we kept Maguire than Aluko, he's got a far higher potential resale value. rossafc92
Bit gutted about that. Thought recent signs were showing he was all for staying, especially with the EE story a couple of weeks ago. One of my favourite players, perhaps for that goal against Bayern. Can't really hold it against him for wanting to return to England, but think he'll end up League 1 at best. Lower end Championship side if lucky. Can't help but think the SPL is still a more attractive league in that sense, but maybe that's just me. Link to comment

More pish from ScottishRacistI would tend to agree with him here, Aluko has hardly done anything in his time here, he has talent, that is clear but doesn't show it enough. Link to comment

HH_is_back
No loss, too lightweight, too injury prone and a luxury Aberdeen cant afford. We need fighters and players willing to put the boot in, not sand dance. Link to comment

spamspamspam
Expect Maguire to follow Thats if anyone picks them up. These two are playing a bit of roulette with their careers. 400K for Maguire, 200K for Aluko. Its not like the lower leagues in Englands are cash rich, they can afford more wages but there isnt a lot of transfer fees paid in the Championship. Not too bothered about Aluko going. I've only seen him play well twice, the rest average at best but always looking like he's teetering on the brink of something. I've never been his biggest fan, would've been happy with him staying but not bothered about him going either... if that makes sense. Link to comment
minijc
Explain in salient terms the Nigerian statementI just think that'd because of that he'd be more appealing to teams, especially in England where he has already played, up here he has proved that he can hack it, just, on the big stage against Bayern he was outstanding, Maguire has never been outstanding and never will be, the fact Aluko has been called up for the Nigerian team a couple of times aswell as being shortlisted for their world cup squad says it all aswell. King Street Loon
Talisman! Lol Not too fussed about this at all.Hasn't done nearly enough in both his spells here. Massively underperformed. We'll move on and hopefully get someone better and certainly hopefully more consistent. Link to comment
StandFree1982
The P&J website isn't really working properly for me, seems to be missing all the stories etc. What does he actually say? or is it just newspaper spin on his words? Link to comment

minijc
Not quite. Aluko ran riot for the first half at Pittodrie but after they put Lahm on him for the second half, he did nothing. He was useless in the Allianz.Who wasn't useless in the Allianz though, for Aberdeen? Link to comment
StandFree1982
I'd imagine he is on fairly high wages, i'm sure we can get someone else to replace him who is more effective over the season than Aluko! The boy can change a game when he is up for it and on form, but he does it far too frequently for him to be a real asset. Link to comment
Crossbow
I'll be disappointed if this happens, yes Sone is not consistently brilliant - if he were Birmingham would not have released him but he is I feel one of two players we have who are genuinely talented and creative. He may not graft consistently and often gets marked right out of games but in his absence we are a really dull team (especially if Bebo also goes). He is a player who can make you go "wow". We can't have enough of those and to lose one is a real shame. We will be much weaker without him unless CB can unearth a replacement and despite what folk are saying players like Sone do not grow on trees. Link to comment

I don't think we can afford any passengers in our team any more crossbow, if he's only doing it in the odd game then its like playing with ten men only. flashes of brilliance are easy on the eye and good to watch but that's not what this club requires. We need hard working players and I do not mean the likes of Young and Mackie, these new players need to have some footballing talent. Link to comment
StandFree1982
I'd rather have a player who has 80% of Alukos ability but used it for 100% of the games than have Aluko using his ability for only 40% of the games. Link to comment

Part of the reason he disappears is because everyone knows we have so little creative talent, mark Sone well and he can do nothing. Yes, he does display apparent lack of effort at times but equally he must be frustrated to be in an outfit where there is so little anticipation of space and options. When he makes the space and plays the ball half the time the numpties he's with have not even considered it. Without him who is going to create the chances? I don't now the answer to this question but i suspect our win record when he is playing is better than when he is not. Link to comment
