Ke1t
Progression, stagnation or regression? I'm going with 7th or 8th, and a quarter final. Not sure which of the 3 categories that would fit into, to be honest. Regression? Link to comment

Not sure which of the 3 categories that would fit into, to be honest. Regression? That would equal progression in the League and regression in the cup.... so probably stagnation overall? It all depends how much money Brown is given. If Milne allows him to replace all the players we've lost on the same budget, I reckon we could make the top 6. Zander Diamond, Aluko and others wages coming off the books - should allow him to bring in some real quality. The aforementioned players were being massively overpaid, in terms of the contribution they returned on the pitch. However, if the budget is cut again then i think we'll find ourselves in a similar position... Dunfermline will be good next season, so I'm going for St Mirren to be relegated, while we'll find ourselves finish somewhere within the pack that will include St. Johnstone, Kilmarnock (who i reckon will come crashing back down to earth next season without Mixu and Eremenko et al., - Mixu achieved miracles on their budget this season) and Inverness. DieHardDandy
Dundee Utd have lost their midfield and Kili have lost their playmaker and manager - there WILL be top 6 places up for grabs! If Brown gets good folks in and sorts out this horrific spate of injuries then I predict 4th. I couldn't care less about the cups at the moment - they're a waste of time for us until Brown sorts out the squad & its mentality. Link to comment
Stoney
If we keep langfield, maguire, aluko - bottom 6 if we dont we will be a top 6 side. Link to comment

vanderark14
to difficult to predict IMO too much depends on what Brown and Knox can do in the transfer market and what they then do with those players. Certain players nowadays just do not have the ambition to better themselves or listen to any method of coaching. Link to comment

After sticking up for Maguire & Aluko for some time though I'm starting to think they just don't have the winning mentality to be Dons players. Link to comment
Tord31
Think like McGhee this season the goodwill afforded to Brown for being sh*te this season will only continue if there is a mass clearing of the decks and a semi decent start to the season. Doing things like releasing Howard, re-signing Langfield and signing a 20 year old German amateur will piss the fans right off if we are still sh*te. More time would be afforded, for instance if we binned clangers et al imo. Link to comment

bonzodaddy73
without knowing who were going to have playing for us, who knows where we will finish. But I'll hazard a guess at somewhere between 3rd and 12th... Link to comment
winton54
To be honest i cant wait for the season to end and the transfer window to open. If Milne/Miller keep their promise and leave the current wage budget as is i can see Brown building us a pretty competative side next season. Hes been in the game so long hes got so many contacts and is well respected. Top 4 for me! COYR! Link to comment
GK55
All depends on what happens over the summer - if Brown and Knox can get the required standard of player in, i will go with 4th or 5th. If not, then i fear a repeat of this season. Link to comment
Crossbow
I'm going with 3rd-5th based purely on a belief in CB and his negotiation skills. This belief however is born largely of a near religious faith as at present and with this squad we are where we deserve to be. Onwards and upwards - please Link to comment

Pretty much my thoughts rock CB, WM and SM have already stated the budget will be the same this year as last so Brown should be able to get in a decent quality of player with the money left after Diamond and co go. ---- If we stagnate then as long as we see some better thought out contract talks with the likes of Vernon I'd even call that progress of sorts. We must speak to the out of contract players in July, offer them deals, tell them if they dont sign to find a new club and then start offering 3 year deals to people instead of 2. I'm getting affa hacked off with losing guys for free after they've taken a wage from us for 2 years, played their best football for the last 6 months of that and buggered off to middle earth for some over priced deal in division 2 Link to comment

StandFree1982
The SPL fluctiates so much that we've got every chance of being 4th next season! The problem with the SPL is that outside of the OF, and now Hearts, there is no team that is good enough year in, year out to be top 6 consistantly. I don't see why we couldnt be 4th next year, even without spending a lot of money. Every team is in the same boat, losing their best players and not having cash to replace them. Link to comment
King Street Loon
Far to early to say what we'll be like next season. Best to wait till we see who Broon & Knox get in, as well as what the other teams do. What I do hope for next season is improved attitude on the pitch. Which I reckon we'll get. Link to comment

Foster14
A lot of teams are going to go through big transitions this summer, so don't think I could really make a guess. Rangers, Celtic and Hearts are all nailed on top 6, but the other 3 all have big summers ahead. Kilmarnock have a new manager who we have little idea of how he will get on. Motherwell seem to have a lot of players out of contract, and with McCall have a manager who we have little idea of what he will manage to get in. With United, Houston has had good success off a squad that Levein built, and hasn't really done well in the transfer market himself. With a lot of their good players out of contract, or possibly moving on, it will be interesting there too. With a good summer of squad strengthening, I can see why no reason why we couldn't compete with those 3, minimum. Just depends how much strengthening actually happens. Link to comment

ollie1903
As long as we have got a committed squad of good players bursting their arses to win every single game then what will be will be.And I'd like to know why people think Kilmarnock's achievements are miraculous. They have only won 3 more games than us? Budget this budget that, 13 wins out of 35 is hardly mind blowing and really only serves to show how sh*te the standard is. Link to comment
rossafc92
As others have pointed out, it's very difficult to even hazard a guess as to where we will end up this time next year. With Aluko and Maguire looking likely to follow Diamond, Young, Howard, Vujadinovic and Blackman out the door then the squad is going to look very different next season. Langfield, Hartley and Smith may not be here either which would probably mean there will be more new faces in the starting eleven than current ones. I would trust Brown and Knox more than our previous two management teams to be able to bring in a good standard of player over the summer. I would expect it to be free signings and loans again, but with the amount of out of contract players, particularly down south, and with the vast array of contacts Craig Brown has when it comes to loan deals then these types of transfers should hopefully work. As has been mentioned, Dundee United will be losing most of their key players over the summer. Buaben, Gomis and Conway are definitely away, and they may be tempted by offers for players like Kenneth and Goodwillie. I'm sure their chairman indicated recently that their wage budget would be getting quite a significant cut, meaning the standard of player they will be able to attract may not be near what they have just now. Same goes for Kilmarnock, I don't think they will have as good a season next term as surely they can't strike it lucky with another Mixu-style appointment and continue to bring in players of Eremenko's caliber? It really is difficult to tell where anybody is going to finish. Hearts are the only non-OF team that look like remaining fairly strong next season. I would expect Hibs to be more competent as well as ourselves. I won't get too ahead of myself however, as I couldn't wait for this season to start at this time last year, and despite hitting the ground running, it didn't take long for us to hit the buffers and face another dead end season.
