Absence Makes The Heart Grow Fonder

Recommended Posts

The club have alot of work to do.

They have relied on loyal fans for too long to just turn up, pay their money regardless of the end product. People just arent interested anymore, prices are too high, the OF rule the roost and you generally get treated like sh*te at football by coppers and stewards etc. Its not worth the hassle.

Like i say, the club have alot to do. Will they do it? Im not holding my breath.

Falling out of love with Scottish Football in general tbh.

.and vice versa.

Since coming home, I have found I give less and less thought to the shenanigans down Pittodrie way. Mainly I think because they do absolutely f**k all to gain my interest.

You could be right

Most of my mates/family who went in the 80's/90's have no interest nowadays

Think its only being in exile that keeps me interested :dontknow:

After 6 months in the US I went to the ICT game recently. I could have gone to 2 more games but went to see Buckie vs Deveronvale and played golf instead.

I don't miss getting annoyed every week. Infact, I love baseball....a defeat one day can easily be a win the next....same with basketball. More enjoyable and cheaper cos you can get tickets for $5 and $10.

I'll continue to look at the Aberdeen results but as someone who was around when we were winning stuff I just don't see the point if we aren't contending for anything.

One thing the Yanks know how to do is run sports in a proper fashion.

The game in Europe could learn a lot from the Americans, but I think in general we're too arrogant to think we can learn anything about football from the US.

It shouldn't really be about the winning/competing for me. I would be happy to watch 11 footballers each week, people that played it on the deck and played in high scoring, entertaining matches. What we get is mundane 0-0 draws and people who come on here and so forth claiming what a solid performance it had been and whatever. People have forgot that football is a game that people should be able to enjoy and its the winning at all costs stuff thats boring the fk out of us all.

For the first time this season, never travelled up from London for a game...just so frustrating being a fan. Hopefully with a few interesting signings and the likes of Diamond gone (everytime I did watch the games on tv he was atrocious) we may have an ok season and my biggest hope is for Fyvie and other youngsters to progress and play some attractive football- we'll see.

The product on the pitch is mince but its been that in a past as well

The thing that winds me up the most is being told what to do by some chocolate* in a yellow jacket(sit down/you cant stand there etc)

*Is chocolate still a derogatory term in Aberdeen?

I'm a huge fan of being told to sit down and shut up, and having coppers pat me down because I might look shady to them. I'm also really into sitting on little hard seats for 2 hours, and watching disinterested 'sportsmen' go through the motions while the guy next to me howls like a wounded f**king buffalo at every perceived injustice on the pitch.

That's why I make a point of going to every game when I'm home.

This is tough for me.

I've really fallen out of love with the club.

Don't have a go at me for this but sometimes it feels as if that's the way that Milne wants it.

The type of complete scumbag assholes who play for us nowadays.

The lack of balls within the club to stand up for ourselves.

The way they take us for granted.

The way our once proud club has been driven into ruin.

The f**king OF freak show...and the way their vermin followers can do as they please at our ground and that's the way it is.

f**k, sometimes I'm making up excuses not to go to games.

f**k I went over 30 years and missed FOUR home games.

Now?

Utterly floored by disinterest.

f**king f**k f**kity f**ks sake f**k pig piss up a rope f**kstick.

Okay - on a wee aside.

Dont you think a hell of a lot of Aberdeen fans these days are complete cocks?

Maybe its because im older and that ive been going for a right good few years now. But do you not get hacked off by the increasing number of gobshites who turn up thinking they are as hard as nails. Who moan like f**k and hound the arse out of their own players at the slightest little thing.

While the Aberdeen support is generally immune to all the disease that festers in other clubs, particularly those in the west, the feeling that i get from the terracing and the stands is that the Aberdeen support is probably the most greeting faced shower of b*stards in the country. Admittedly we havent had much to cheer about over the last couple of decades, but we are still a good few grades above most in terms of success.

We should expect better than we are getting at the moment and we have every right to gripe but it seems that there are people who just greet for the sake of it and if we were performing well on the park these same cretins would just seek other things to greet about.

f**ks me off anyway but ive had a good few pints and several glasses of a strangely named but extremely tasty drink called Messerschmit.

Maybe internet forums are truly representative of our actual support after all.....

The only reason I still follow the SPL and Aberdeen is because I enjoy the pantomime of Scottish football. It's like following a really low-brow Australian soap like Neighbours or something. The best thing about being away from Scotland is that I can follow the story-line, without having to watch the terrible football. I subscribe to Red TV, but I rarely use it.... I will probably cancel though, during the off season, because I don't want the Stewart Milne getting his hands on anymore of my money. He's wasted enough of it already.

If I was living in Scotland, I'd have probably lost interest years ago....

If we started to win again and were near the top of the league (3rd), winning more than we lose or draw, you'd all be back :checkit:

And if not then I'm sure there'd be someone to take your seat. People will support a winning team.

It's that simple.

I've missed a lot more games than usual this season. Christmas shopping and going to ikea with the other half being two of my reasons for not going to two games. The rest, I just plain didn't want to go to. I would never have seen the day that this would happen, especially when a lot were home games that I'd already paid for. I hope next season's better but the stewarding/policing situations and the growing "turn up, sit down, shut up, feck off" mentality in football now is certainly a major offput.

I know a load of guys that went home and away in the 80's and 90's but pass up the chance of free tickets nowadays. What the club need to realise that once people get into the habit of NOT going to Pittodrie then its a very very hard thing to do to make them come back.

Me?..........I could never fall out of love with AFC, its in my family, its in my blood, I keep saying every season "maybe...just maybe" but the clowns that are running the team into the ground make even "maybe" a forlorn hope these days

Chris Anderson would be disgusted at the way things have turned out
