1993 Scottish Cup Final

Looking at the list of past finals was there any particular reason why the 1993 final was played at Celtic Park and not Hampden? I know Hampden was refurbished during the 90s and that was why 1997 & 1998 finals were played else where. It just seems random having the 1992 and 1994 finals at Hampden but not the 1993 final.

Think this was the refurbishment of hampden that removed the last areas of terracing. I mind going to the 1992 league cup final as a loon and being in a standing area, this was all gone by the league cup final in 1995.

Eoin Jess was on the bench.......

If I recall Willie went for power & height up front against Gough/DonkeyDave.

That was a particularly destestable Hun team, possibly the most detestable there has been.

Opening goal was a sh*te defelection from Neil Murray. I remember that night Murray getting a doing outside Chimmy Chungas on Great Western Road, which cheered me up no end. Can't believe Theo got nutmegged for the Second goal, disappointing.

Our goal, from Richardson, also took a massive deflection.

Huge Dons support there that day, with torrents of urine flowing beneath your feet down the old terrace behind the goal, happy days.

Did the hun get the dubious honour of being the last filth ridden mob to occupy the old jungle?

Exactly, and what a team we had on the park to back up our agrro off it.

Still think this team Mr Brown is building needs a c**t in the middle of the team, like Richardson.

Kind of guy that can put in a thunderous tackle on the oppo and spark the fans, get the game going. Maybe its Osbourne, but we need a Roy Keane to get the dressing room fired up so folk like Christina Clark are on their toes and up for it.

There's been a lack of fight/urgency/pride in our team for too long.

PS to be fair to Christina I do recall him wiping out Hutton in a game against der Hun in one of his last game - more of that please and i'll revert to Chris.

It all comes with experience, and that's what we need, proper established players, none of these drifters knocking about in trials left, right and centre.

What we would do for a striker of the calibre of Paatelainen now.

Mixu Paatelainen, what a f**king signing, never a truer word spoken.

Been saying that for years Jazzer, badly need a hard man in the middle of the park. In fact a hard nut in each area of the pitch would be fine too (not in a thuggish sort of way though).

Agree, Paatelainen one of many good signings for the Dons in that few years at that time. Him, Shearer, Booth, Jess all getting into high scoring figures, if only that'd happen now.
