fifered
they're 40 or 50 million in debt and the bank won't let them borrow more. not kenwrights fault. Link to comment
Dandyjam
Guy from my work is a big Everton fan, he'll be raging tomorrow at the Arteta deal and was pissed off as it is with lack of transfer activity. Kenwright seems to have turned into the Everton version of Stewart Milne. Link to comment
minijc
Since January 2005, Everton have averaged 61 points per season with Arteta playing, compared to 51 points without him. Lynchpin. Can Moyes leaving and who could really blame him, his best players sold for good money and he gets none of it to spend. Link to comment

boboisared
Personally think hes took Everton as far as he can now they've stagnated past few years. Can you explain this? Year upon year he's losing players and not given much to replace them. Fergie would struggle there. Link to comment
King Street Loon
i've never fully understood why Everton are in so much debt. They're a steady EPL club.Anyone know the reason? Link to comment
fifered
Who's fault is it?dunno and don't really care tbh, just a bit simplistic to blame kenwright. they tried to move stadium it fell through, they've been trying for years to sell/get investment that hasn't happened. they have huge debt, banks won't fund indebted clubs like they used to so what can you do. they need to sell players to fund debt. moyes will hang on there till fergie retires imo, and he'll get that job. zander
Other than Lescott in the past couple years they've nae really lost anyone that couldn't be easily replaced. Link to comment

He's doing a brilliant job there. Link to comment

Dynamo
Bloody hell. How the f**k are Everton 40-50million quid in debt? They've spent relatively f**k all money the past 5-10 years and are always top 10, been in Europe and cup final. Mental. Link to comment

These days I just think the even the TV money isn't enough. All of these EPL clubs have wealthy businessmen at the helm... meanwhile, Everton have a coronation street actor. Link to comment
Bluto10
isnt kenwright involved financially with the west end? everton had some midfield a couple of years ago - neville, fellianai, atreta, pienaar and cahill. they still have some young good players coming through so i think they'll be ok. the job moyses has done getting that team together on a budgets is pretty amazing Link to comment
barassie_afc
Everton's debt has doubled since 05, it would appear they are paying way too much in wages v their turnover. The rich benefactor angle maybe relevant , Newcastle have almost treble the debt but have that Ashley tube to help them out Link to comment

I've never understood Everton's debt perhaps an Everton fan would know why it is so big. Here's and interesting qoute from Kenwright "Our debt is a big debt and a worrying debt, but it is manageable because of our performance on the field". - So what happens when you lose your best players and get relegated? Sounds like the depend on good performances. Link to comment
Bluto10
they have some good youngsters, but are they good enough to keep up with past performances and get top 8? i dunno. doubt it. Link to comment

lethal707
Everton have been in the English top division since 1954 and had an average crowd of 36,000 which is 95% of Goodison Park. Read an article which blame's Kenwright for bad marketing, they only have 10 executive boxes compared to 155 at Old trafford and 28 at MK Dons. That is a big money spinner should have looked to upgrade on that. Goodison Park has staged more top-flight football games than any other ground in the United Kingdom and was the only English club ground to host a semi-final at the 1966 World Cup. It was also the first English ground to have undersoil heating and the first to have two tiers on all sides. They have also broken club record fees 4 times since 2005. James Beattie - 6mAndy Johnson - 8.6mYakubu - 11.25mFelaini - 15m Total = 40.85m on four players. Link to comment
