Just wondering if anyone has any tips or hints for job hunting as ive been at it for about 2-3months now and ive not had much luck, im still at school so ive not really had any experience in this field and i dont exactly have any connections in the logistics industry

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You don't have any connections in the logistics industry? Why would you even want to work in this field? Its for girls.

You can't tell me you've spent all this time at school and wanted to slip right into Logistics.

Advice? Get an apprenticeship, any trade and take it from there.

Two tracks in life to succeed. Appenticeship or Uni, failing that you will generally end up a loser.

sorry i didnt really clarify enough what i was looking at, i am going for trainee and apprenticeship positions because i dont expect to go straight into it at all. Im looking at a few positions that will provide training and theres a few places where theres tye oppourtunity to do work and a part time uni course. For Example ive applied for a post as a Trainee Operations Person and another as Warehouse Assistant.

In regards to the comment about it being for women i have to disagree, at least in my area it is an area which alot of male teens are trying to break into at the moment and less females care for this kind of work here.

Had a similar situation for a month or so, left school and stuck my head out and phoned plenty companies about a plumbing apprenticeship and got no feedback, not even a fucking call back. Felt horrible feeling like you were wasting away for hours on end doing fuck all but have had my self set up in the welding industry at college for about 9 weeks, should be put out on placement in a couple of weeks, can't wait.

Don't get down on yourself buddy, it'll take time.

Did 2 year HND in accounts at the broch college, meant to be part of a 2 + 2 which involves 2 years at college and then 2 at uni, and you come out with a degree, i came out after the 2 years at college, decided i wanted a job, spent ages looking for jobs as trainee accounts jobs, working in finance offices etc, and got fuck all, now working in a customer services, and away to make more of a move towards IT, but certainly I've realised that a knowledge of computers and that is a huge advantage these days.

Anyway, I love my job, been there since January and have got to work in Inverness and not just my office, so it's not a 8-5 same shit different day kind of job anyway!

any cat and its dog can do logistics, HR, admin, buying etc... you're competing against people who are 3-4 years older and have some pishy business type degree from RGU, my advice, forget it if at all possible.

Go to college, get an HNC or HND in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and the world is yours wee man. There is a serious lack of young UK engineers at the moment, RGU is encouraging shite degrees that are 10 a penny for their intake cash and everyone is taking them up on their offer of a degree in business studies with french etc, be different, set yourself aside from the norm, if you have any sort of technical nouse about you then use it.

You'll never earn

Thanks for that, actually a real help to hear real life stories from people who have experience :)

He's spot on.

I fluked it by a bit of hard work and a bit of pushing. (and some craft work before Tup pipes in)

My apprenticeship was the best thing I ever did but I then took a totally different career path.

It is possible to make loads of cash and be thick as fuck but having some sort of educated background be it a degree, HNC, HND will go a long way in the engineering trade.

Having a bit of savvie also helps though.

Seen plenty folk qualified to the hilt and it's all very well being able to work out the volume of a biscuit tin but no use if you don't know how to open it.

Yeah i think following everyone's advice i'm gonna have a look into some apprenticeship options as well as a few college and uni courses. I find things easy to pick up and i can transfer this to any field so hopefully i should be able to get something soon, got some good grades so should be able to find.

A good apprenticeship will give you both experience and a good qualification at the end of it.
