Playing Movies From Portable Hard Drive

Have been trying to play movies from my portable hard drive to my tv through my DVD player but nothing happening, would it be possible to play them off my laptop through the DVD player ?

Your DVD player probably only allows playback from certain formats. Without knowing what the file format is of the movies and what ones the DVD player uses, i'd assume that is the case.

 

Depending on your TV, you can use a monitor cable (dunno the actual name for it...VGA possibly) that plugs into your laptop and should fit on the back of most TVs these days. Alternatively, if your laptop n TV have HDMI cables, use one of those.

 

And another alternative, which is what I use currently, is to get a media player which you plug a hard drive into and it plays the video / music / pictures to your TV via HDMI.

I had a similar problem at first, but found that if the video is in a folder that if you take it out of the folder, the player recognises it

Try using different burning software, something like Nero...

 

If you check the formats your DVD will play and do a google search on burning software for that type of format.
