HH_is_back
said Jason Brown isn't good enough. I laugh at your idiotic ramblings. The guy has presence, he commands his defense, he's vocal and looks more and more like a great bit of business by Craigie Brown. Brown could be the difference between top 6 or not (No I don't think that's what we should be aiming for) Much better than that Columbian numpty that people spunked over cos he was foreign. Ke1t
Isn't Brown Welsh? Sorry, you were saying something about spunking over someone because they're foreign? Link to comment
Dandie1992
Not disputing whether he is good enough or not as he certainly ranks higher than Bert Bossu or Derek Soutar, but a fully on form Langfield or Euro-spot-contender keeper possesses some qualities I would like to see Brown pick up to truly settle any dispute about him being number 1. One of which would be rushing out to pick up. Seen a few instances of defenders willing him to just come out and collect and defuse. As a keeper, you always have to remind yourself that your area of responsibility is bigger than you think when you're on your line. If you think you are coming off your line enough, you're not. If you think an about to develop situation is just that wee bit too far away from your goal-line that you shouldn't be counted on to defuse the situation, it's close enough. Link to comment
strachanmcgheegoal
Oh and meant to say as well as Brown who apart from the free kick duck has done nothing to put me off him the whole makeshift defence today - whilst geting and taking the breaks undoubtedly - did way better than anyone could realistically have imagined. What chance the Sunday Mail headline - "Jelly out, Arnason in" Oh, scumboy 3 (probably pronounced free) has just beaten me to it on another site! Link to comment

Yes, he played well yesterday, and has looked good on occasion.BUT, in my opinion the jury is still out. He's very poor at low shots, probably due to him still being overweight. He's not the type to ever be a skinny Leighton type obviously, but I still think he's carrying a bit of timber. He'll get a run in the team for the next 4 months so we'll see during that time. Link to comment
Redstar
Yup he had a good game yesterday...but the biggest asset a keeper has is consistency...just ask Robert Green...If Broon can do it every week he looks like the man for the job... Link to comment

Redstar
Don't mind admitting it seems I was wrong about him, first saw him at Killie and he looked like the kind of keeper they put in goals at half time for a fans penalty competition and was awful the following week also, but fair play he's stood up to the plate since and come onto a game. I think 90% of us thought WTF in his first few games but if he can play the way he did yesterday in a packed Iprix, which must be about the most intimidating atmosphere for an away keeper, he's obviously got bottle in spades...which certainly cannot be said of our current No 2 keeper. Bamber
My real worry with brown is that AT LEAST once a half (never mind a game) he will spill a fairly simple ball - every time so far we have been lucky he has spilled it close to him and he has reacted quickly to it It is an awful heart in the mouth moment though each time he spills Link to comment

Howling gales and he held everything blown at him. Can't be easy for a keeper in those conditions. I think he's the best we've had since Kjaer. It's probably a more likely split of 90% willing to give him an opportunity to do this and 10%, yourself included, who write them off before they've even kicked a ball in anger. Link to comment

He's still overweight but so was Neville Southall...don't think he'll ever look like an athlete but if he can continue in the same form as yesterday good on him...we just need a reliable back up now Link to comment

Theres no gut on him Exactly dont understand about this nonsence about him being overweight. I think hes a touch short for a keeper and has exactly what you said above stocky build. He made a error against St Mirren but dont remember any other goal hes sold. Think he is a good signing and wouldnt have been at blackburn for a few years as number two behind Paul Robinson if he wasnt. Link to comment

I'd agree with that assessment. Despite the odd lapse he is more vocal and more predictable than anyone we've had for quite a while. I haven't seen him beaten at his near post from inside the box. He was tubby when he first appeared but that has improved. His attitude against the unwashed was spot on. Aberdeens number one no doubt. Link to comment
