Ke1t
He was the first of many, many players... "The best young African players" to paraphrase the club, who would come to Pittodrie to strut their stuff in the Red and White as part of the new link between AFC and South Africa. And who can forget the talents of..... actually, like AFC's usual pish, this transpired to be nothing more than the usual, empty gobshite from the club. Link to comment

Did we not also say we were going to try and link up with a Spanish club under Calderwood...and a German one (Moenchengladbach?) under Brown? Link to comment

That was Espanyol during McGhees reign - Aberdeen tie up deal to sign up La Liga starlets from Espanyol Mark McGhee has already reaped rewards from that tie-up by landing former Espanyol and Parma defender Davide Grassi after he impressed on trial. OddJob
That was Espanyol during McGhees reign - Aberdeen tie up deal to sign up La Liga starlets from Espanyol Actually forgot we got Grassi through that set-up. Oh ma heed Link to comment
sheepiekev
That was Espanyol during McGhees reign - Aberdeen tie up deal to sign up La Liga starlets from Espanyol FFS - emphasising what a plum of a manager he was. As much as we are in desperate need of a full back(s), I'd rather do without than go back to the likes of Grassi. Link to comment
Dandie1992
I was genuinely excited by that guy, might have just been spunking over foreign player syndrome but, I thought he was going to be a club legend, Chris Katongo - Aberdeen Legend ...it had a nice ring to it. Link to comment
SkyeDon
Did ANYTHING ever come from that Espanyol link-up? (Apart from Grassi.) Link to comment
sheepiekev
Did ANYTHING ever come from that Espanyol link-up? (Apart from Grassi.) nothing apart from a few Charlie Allan shitey exclusives...in the "bumper coverage" of Aberdeen FC.Fat useless cunt Link to comment
paddy
Did ANYTHING ever come from that Espanyol link-up? (Apart from Grassi.) These 'links' with clubs is just PR bullshit. We get one player in from a foreign team and claim that we will get more as time goes on. Aye right. Link to comment
actonsheep
Actually forgot we got Grassi through that set-up. Oh ma heed I've never worked this one out. Yeah, we signed Grassi, but he had sweet FA to do with Espanyol. It was the 3rd team in Barcalona we signed him from - Sant Andreu. I suspect we rather embarrasingly made a deal with the wrong club, which is why we've heard nothing more of it. Either that or there was never a link up at all, and the DR was just making up its usual shite... Link to comment
Scarface
Just watched Katongo's goal, quick feet, pace cutting inside from the left, low drive into the bottom corner, followed by about 8 somersaults and a crazy freestyle dance with his team-mates as a celebration! Also surprised to see Senegal to exit without gaining a single point, but overall the quality looks shite. Link to comment

The standard of goalkeeping in this tournament is atrocious. Link to comment
Byrne Baby Byrne
Katongo looked very good yesterday. He'd of left us on a free transfer by now anyway (after some bad contract management), so what does it matter Link to comment
tup
I used to sign him and his brother in Football Manager. Aye his older brother Masongo, lethal. Link to comment
