Govan Fire Sale

I suppose the first question is whether the SPL, SFA and UEFA agree to bend the rules to let them sell players outside of the window.

I think this was allowed for Portsmouth but not too sure of the details.

However, if they start releasing the players not seen as sellable assets I'd like to think our scouts are well aware of some of their younger, more promising players. Did I say scouts? Ah fuck......

there is no question whether the SFA & SPL will help them. they will bend over backwards for them

There are no rules stopping a club from selling players at any point of the year, only registering players. In the instance of Portsmout. A few years ago, the English FA were willing to grant any possible clubs that wanted to purchase a player from Portsmouth special dispensation.

As far as I'm aware the eastern europe transfer market is still open, as is the one in the US so we might see the Huns try and flog players to these countries. Or they'll be extra cheeky and ask clubs to pay money up front now to receive the players when the window opens again in June.

UEFA? FIFA?

If the rules are bent to allow them to sell their assets I'm happy enough to see them do that. They won't get enough to cover a quarter of their debts anyway and i'd enjoy seeing them finish the season with an even thinner squad.

Imagine them playing every week without McGregor, Davis, Goian, Wallace, Whittaker etc etc.

Fair enough. As above, I'm happy for them to be allowed to sell their star players.

I think transfer windows are bollocks anyway tbh.

On a different note, I wonder how long before they actually go into Admin and appoint an administrator? I can't wait for the first week an administrator comes in, I wonder if he'll just release a whole bunch of players the day he comes in as we have seen at Dundee, Livingston, Motherwell etc etc when this has happened before.

I'd guess anyone saleable will be kept on but they will take the chance to offload anyone not seen as a saleable asset. Cheapest option is to keep the kids and a few saleable assets.

Not sure who would go straight off though. I suppose players who are on a decent salary but not playing or as you say with only months left on their contracts.

Kevin Thomson?

Neil Alexander?

Bartley back to Arsenal surely.

Edu?

Most of the shite coisty has signed surely - McKay, Ortiiz etc etc

Expect Cousin will be one of the shortest signings in history...

I wonder how long before McMoist has had enough and that inbred scumbag Durrant takes over...

I'd like it. Perversely. :lolrangers:

none of those hun cretins will ever leave that shit hole. they will not get a gig elsewhere unless Walter cheque book Smith gets a gig we some other club.

the one face they haven't shown in the papers is Durrant. Plenty of Mcmoist looking grim but I want to see Durrant too, might as well put wee kneesy in there as well.

I wouldn't think the latter will happen: yes, getting rid of saleable assets because they need money coming in. The only time I see them getting rid of the others is if they are admitting the club will not finish this season and is toast. Otherwise they need to be able to put 11 on the pitch to not forfeit their entire right to be in the SPL.

So yeah, I'd say that's a watch this space moment: if the cant-get-money-for-em players are turfed... then it's pretty much time for lights out! :thumbup1:

My bad!

So according to their website:

Goalkeepers

1. Allan McGregor

25. Neil Alexander

30. Scott Gallacher

Defenders

2. Dorin Goian

4. Kirk Broadfoot

5. Sasa Papac

12. Lee Wallace

16. Steven Whittaker

18. Carlos Bocanegra

22. Kyle Bartley

32. Ross Perry

Midfielders

6. Lee McCulloch

7. Maurice Edu

8. Steven Davis

14. Steven Naismith

19. Sone Aluko

20. Matt McKay

21. Alejandro Bedoya

24. Mervan Celik

26. Jamie Ness

27. Gregg Wylde

41. Rhys McCabe

Strikers

11. Kyle Lafferty

15. David Healy

28. Salim Kerkar

34. Andrew Little

38. Kane Hemmings

So what happened to Ortiz?

What strikes me is if you strip the best 4 players out of that squad it will massively struggle with the pressure. Say Wallace, Davis, McGregor, Goian are sold. They will be hopelessly shit.

You really have to wonder how they were ever allowed to sign Celik and in fact any of McCoists signings this year. Says so much about football that a club everyone knew was going tits up was allowed to sign more players. Ridiculous.

I wonder if any of the players will ask to have contracts torn up and be allowed to walk?

Looking over that list, I'd love us to bring someone like Wylde in, just what we need, but can't see it happen.

I wonder what Neil Alexander would be looking for salary wise?

They'd get £750k + for those in bold.

It's not even as if they can sell a Laudrup or Van Bronkhorst for £10m.

:hysterical:
