fine-n-dandy
Motherwell I think are now beyond our reach but obviously we're aiming for maximum points & as high as possible but if we win the morn, there is no reason why we cannot reasonably expect to push on for fourth place. This is actually quite amazing (imo) considering how grim it looked earlier & I have to the turn around but must add ( for Mr Brown) just think where we'd be if we'd actually set out to win most of these games we drew :dontknow: But let's see us really push on now & keep this no loss streak going & see if we can DESERVEDLY TAKE 4th place or 3rd Link to comment
Dandie1992
Looking at the table. You're right. I think it's pretty amazing that we are where we are. Problem is that we just don't have the quality many wish we did to make that kind of push. However, win the next two games and I'd be telling the players that this is a serious opportunity to regain some honor by kicking on up the league. Link to comment
K-9
Has to be the target but in reality we are not good enough at this time. A win tomorrow would put us right in mix though Link to comment

Think 4th does regardless (depending on Scottish cup obviously) but if the huns are still in administration on April fools day, then 5th gets Euro place Link to comment

Does 4th place proper nae go to cup winners first anyhow? Link to comment
K-9
Depends on cup finalists.Actually thinking about it in a strange twist it may actually end up being good for us if Motherwell beat us in cup and get to final against Celtic!! Link to comment

V for Vendetta
Aye its a realistic target just not for us given the attacking limitations of the team we have. With a more attack minded side I think getting a real run of results would certainly have a shout of catching the others including Rangers who presumably will be releasing players next week. V for Vendetta
Would 5th place now get us into Europe? Certainly can't see Rangers being permitted to enter next year assuming they "qualify". Link to comment

wilm1542
1st and 2nd qualify for the Champions league while 3rd and 4th qualify for the Europa league. Should the winner and runner-up of the scottish cup both occupy european positions then the Europa league spot available from winning gthe Scottish cup is given to the team which finishes 5th. So if Ranegers finish in the top 5 and are inelegible to play in europe then 6th place in the league could potentially get you into europe... Link to comment
dj_bollocks
Would prefer a Scottish Cup win if I'm honest... I don't think this team are consistent enough for 4th. 5th would be nice, but we seen too much capitulation against the likes of Hearts, Motherwell, St Johnstone etc... With a fully fit squad possibly... but at the moment, pragmatically it's a bit of a stretch... Link to comment

tup
Well 'get into the Champions League' is misleading, they get the privilege of being annihilated by a team who will go into the Champions League in a qualifier played before the season starts. However, as the BBC say, it's good for the co-efficient, if not for the soul, all this getting hammered early in Europe, the alternative being our league becoming a laughing stock like Cyprus or something and never making it past whichever round these nobodies usually get knocked out in. Celtic meanwhile may be seeded, giving them the opportunity to get their arses felt by Dinamo Transyllvania, as Lawwell and his cohorts furiously check their opponents paperwork for administrative errors to try and make the group stages, and help the co-efficient, to enable the same thing to happen next year of course. You get the point though. Qualifier or not it's a shot at it if nothing else. Of courese they or any other Scottish team will more than likely get pummelled but it's something I'd like us to have a go at some day again that's for sure. However it must be after finishing 1st. Anything else is well, second best. Scottish football should forget Europe though. Concentrate on getting the league sorted first and developing in house. Link to comment
tup
Scottish football should forget Europe though. Concentrate on getting the league sorted first and developing in house. Also concentrate on housing developments, in places like Govan, on the land that currently has Ibrox on it. It might be a bit like landfill sites though, in that you cannot build on it, due to the toxicity of the soil, like the area around Chernobyl, a no go area. Link to comment

Motherwell, Hearts, St J, A N Other getting that second cl spot is a jackpot for them. Each will get blasted out the competition, but they then get dropped into the europa in the spot they would have earned had they got 3rd place in the league. Basically a free game in Europe with a very slim chance of the champions league promised land, and a warm up for the europa game that gives them a shot of getting to europa group stages.
