Who's Matt Phillips?

Born in Bradford or something nae doubt.

boy from blackpool I think

Have to admit that even I;m starting to get pissed off with Levein chasing any one in Engerland with a scottish dog so he can cap them

sort it out With Fletcher and get MCcormack in and you have your scottish forwards. No James Mcarthur either

Robson's time has come and gone

Matt Philips is a young English talent tipped for the top.

Think Mulgrew will be ripped apart by any half decent winger but fair play to him.

Mulgrew is well worth a call up, given how rank our defence is. Perhaps we can move on from Caldwell at centre half at long last. Mulgrew has been solid there for Celtic and also brings a deadly set piece to the squad.

Another chance to sort this Steven Fletcher nonsense has passed Levein by though. If we start WC campaign without him, it will be an absolute disgrace and completely Levein's fault.

obviously not and quite right too

Mulgrew has only prospered in a defence when it is part of a team of competent players (compared to their opposition) - we all know how he can stand out when left to his own devices. However he'll be good for free kicks.

I'd have given Considine a chance - he has been good in our shaky set-up.

I agree regarding Mulgrew. one asset though is the set piece but thats not enough at that level.

Considine is not good enough but thats not to say he won't be. Now that I'm firmly in the camp of having less or no english players then I'd rather give Mulgrew and Considine a birth

Our central defence has been rotten for years. No harm in trying someone new. Mulgrew a better centre half than Caldwell, although so am I.

which mod shifted this from the AFC & Scottish fitba section?

is this tup making an arse of his duties already?

Tup left a note in the mods forum saying it was him. I'll see that he has his knuckles rapped!

When I read the title, I thought this was going to be a call up for McNaughton; "Fullback with a clue picked for Scotland"

just goes to show how bias Scotland managers are towards OF players. Super Kev has been one of Cardiff's top performers again this season yet doesnt get a sniff. If he signed for Celtic tomorrow though he'd be straight in the squad.

I'd say playing in the Championship is a much harder proposition that playing for the OF these days. The old excuse used to be that they got lots of European exposure but that just aint the case these days.

Sorry but Scotland and scoring goals don't exactly go hand in hand... Mulgrew's ability with a free kick is something in the Scotland arsenal that we haven't really had... I'm happy with him in the squad and I think it's a fair indictment of our club that someone like him was a lazy fuck at AFC and is now arguably one of Ra Sellick's best players this season...
