Jupiter, Venus And The Moon

Just back home after walking from the train station. All the way I got an outstanding view of the moon, Jupiter and Venus.

Seriously, go outside and take a look. All you have to do is find the Moon. Below the Moon should be what looks like an incredibly bright star but is in fact Venus. Above and to the left of the Moon is the slightly less bright Jupiter.

No, that's the star called Sirius, weird one tho. But you're spot on wi Venus being the really really bright one. Easy way to tell if a point of stationary light in the sky is: if it twinkles, it's a star. If it gives a far more steady light, it's a planet. Something to do with the light fae a star having to travel all those light years across space before it gets to our atmosphere, which diffuses the light a wee bit, making it twinkle. Planets dinna make their own light, what you're seeing is light reflected fae the sun, and cos that's nae travelled a great distance before getting to us, the light's steadier and you don't get the twinkle effect. Oh and if a point o light that was stationary suddenly moves, get on the phone to the FBI and ask for Fox Mulder..
