fine-n-dandy
Can see it happening when you consider the money in the NBA like he uses as an example, or the NFL, or NHL.Money does talk after all & this would be FIFA's attempt to get this up there with them & wouldn't surprise me to see some 'guest' slots for the likes of a couple of Yank teams, just to help with getting into the lime light over there better. http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/chrisbevan/2012/02/seedorf_predicts_the_shape_of.html Bound to be all sorts of opinions an Ideas about it & suggestions for the best thing to suit all but my suggestion is (& I think it's the best obviously) is that we have a 'Euro scummy league' with only rangers & celtic (tell them it's a super league to keep them happy but we'll all ken the truth) & they can just play each other every week & believe that the eyes of the world are on them when in actual fact it's just their own scummy fkn minkbag fans. Everyone wins, everyone's happy. Link to comment
Bobby Connor
It's already happened and it's called the Champions League. The biggest misnomer of all time and the bigots aren't invited to the party. Next! Link to comment

But what he's saying/meaning now is that the Euro 'Elite' league would be a chosen selection of top teams that would then leave their domestic leagues & just have Euro league games where they all play each other over a season. They would probably still enter in their own domestic cups in some form but would not be playing any domestic league games, so say a 16 team Euro elite league that all play each other a couple of times. This has not already happened like you say, yes the champions league is a big money farce & all that & that is true but this would be a completely different concept (yes still a fkn joke imo also) & it'd mean clubs actually leaving their domestic league seasons completely & possible even having two teams split between the two leagues to make an even bigger joke of us struggling clubs. It is possible. But most fans would not be that interested in it, I don't think. I am so uninterested in the "Champions" league these days, that I actually forgot it exists this season and have not watched a single fixture. Incidentally, why has the Europa League suddenly become such a big deal this season? :lolEPL: Link to comment

King Street Loon
I hope a European League doesn't happen. The Champions League is already a dated and boring tournament. Link to comment
Foster14
I hope a European League doesn't happen. The Champions League is already a dated and boring tournament. Full of money though, and that is what is driving the game at the top level. A TV deal and sponsorship for a league which had the likes of Barca, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Inter, Milan, Juventus, Bayern, PSG, Ajax and whatever clubs make up the supposed elite at the time would be massive. It would also be lapped up by the TV football fans... With a lot of the biggest clubs now with mountains of debt, it wouldn't surprise me if at some point they decided to look in to this avenue to increase revenue streams. Link to comment
Bluto10
these things come in cycles. people are slowly getting bored of the champions league and this will relfect in tv figures and thus advertising revenue. theyll then go back to the old format. Link to comment
V for Vendetta
Champions league is crap thats why. Watching the same teams hoover up all the dough and all the players then play each other over and over. Yawn. I can just about remember when European football was special, teams played all sorts of different styles and had players we had never heard of but were incredibly talented. No any half talented player is sucked into the reserves of one of the big Champions league regulars. A massive backwards step for the game in Europe. Link to comment
