Redmist1903
I don't think Craig Brown and Archie Knox are getting the credit they deserve to be honest. OK we are a bit dour to watch and un-adventurous right now but I'm sure this will be addressed in the summer with the addition of a few quality attacking players replacing the duds who's contracts will not be getting renewed. We are now hard to beat and solid. We have the best squad now that we have for years. Craig Brown has almost weeded out all the shite and nearly every player (bar Aluko and Maguire) that have left thus far have been replaced with a player of much higher standard (Milsom, Reynolds, Mawene, Osbourne, Arnason, Brown, Hughes). When we get rid of the rest of the remaining dead wood and hangers on in the summer (Langfield, Mackie, Folly, Paton, Magennis, Chialli, Utetchi, etc) and replace them with a quality striker to partner big Vern, wideman and fullback we should be stronger and a decent team again. We've even managed to offload Foster for £250K as well. The squad has been turned around and we've now got an experienced squad of decent professionals with hardly a bawbag amounst them. We've a good few local lads/Aberdeen fans in the squad now that understand what it means to play for Aberdeen (Anderson, Considine, Rae, Jack, Clark, Robertson) and I'm really looking forward to a good season next season. I've accepted that Fyvie will be gone in the summer. If a portion of whatever cash we recieve for him can be allocated to keep Arnason and have Reynolds here next season I would be a happy man. I also think that Mcardle deserves a new deal as well. Quality centre half and provides decnt enough cover for other positions. I would rather keep McArdle and bin Mawene to be honest. So thoughts for next season, eleven out, six quality and a few decent loanees in? Out:Arnason = Try and keep but if not possible we should have plenty centre midfield options.Reynolds = Try and keep but if not possible replace with quality left back.MaweneFyvieLangfieldMackieFollyPatonMagennis Chialli Utetchi In: Quality left backQuality strikerQuality wide playerBack up goalieBack up wide playerBack up attackerBack up fullback (young loanee) Oh and I fancy us against Motherwell next week as well. The Boofon
I always think we should win the league. Aim for second is pointless. That's like saying we should try and be cup runner up. Link to comment

You aim to win the league if you want mate, I'm a realist and think that next season this will be an unrealistic goal. Second place and some joy in the cups should be obtainable next season though. Stoney
Pretty much spot on, but do think brown will even look at those positions The platform is their to build on. Hopefully we dont go down the foreign route as its not working for broon Link to comment

strachanmcgheegoal
Has to be the realistic target. We'll leave top for the year after once ra'cellick's crowds have dropped to 15,000 apart from against us of course. Tims always raise their game against us. Agree also re Uchechi. Was the guy not even worth a 5 mins yesterday to have a go? Link to comment
Byrne Baby Byrne
We should be aiming for it - but I think Craig Brown would be more content to go or the opportunity of taking 6th. Can't see us ever being better than average under his guidance Link to comment
Monster
Poor guys not really had a chance, would want to see more of him before sending him to the scrapheapGot to ask yourself why that is. If Brown wants to move this team on he has to address our weakness . Fullbacks and wingers must be drafted in. Its became quite clear Vernon needs a quality partner. Fallon, Mackie, Chalali and Maggennis all not good enough. Link to comment
OddJob
I'd like to think our manager and players are aiming for the top, surely anybody wants that no? There's no point in thinking "no, that lot are much better than us". Terrible attitude. Just go out onto the park and believe you can win, and if you've gave 100% and still not got the points then oh well, at least you've tried Link to comment
minijc
Aim for second? Wrong mindset, should be aiming to the win league then that way we give it our best shot, right now we set up for a draw and at best we get that, we need 4 creative players in this team, we get that then we'll have a red hot striker banging in goal ater goal so then, second would be realistic. Tord31
Need to add an attacking threat from defence (paul dixon available on bosman), an attackig threat from midfield (johnny hayes available) and an attacking threat to partner vernon up top (sandaza orsheridan perhaps) and we'll be there or thereabouts no reason we couldnt afford those three as there will be twice as many leaving Link to comment

beer gut
The aim should be to go out and try to win EVERY game. The league table position will take care of itself. I think Broon tends to set up teams not to lose games. The fans will maybe put up with it this season but not next season. We must go out and try an win every game and forget how the other team is set up. This is what Broon needs to realise. Link to comment

Bobby Connor
Agree with most of the replies in this thread. Try and win every game and what will be will be. Really good opportunity to do something next season though, with the Huns in meltdown and Hearts wil surely be a lot weaker. Hibs floundering. Good chance for the Dons to step up and achieve something. Link to comment
The Boofon
Is next season supposed to be our last at Pittodrie? Stoney here's a stat challenge for you. What are the performances of teams within the last 15 years who have moved stadiums with regards to their last season at their home? Do they generally perform better in their last season or do performances suffer with the excitement of moving home? Link to comment
Dandyesque
If we win the league next season, it will be because both OF clubs are no longer in it. I think that also helps explain why a lot of Dons fans are more interested in happenings at Ibrox currently. One down, one to go, hopefully. Link to comment

However, it will all hinge on the Board matching that vision and really going for it. Link to comment
V for Vendetta
Riordan made it clear he didn't want to sign for a Scottish Club due for tax reasons so unless he has a change of heart you can rule him out for now. Link to comment
