Celtic and Rangers have won 35 Titles and trophies between them.. everyone else combined has won 5 total.

 

So thus far about 87.5% of all possible trophies and titles have been split between the Old Firm, meaning all other competitors combined have had to make do with 12.5% of all possible prizes between them.

 

Looking at that another way, a non-OF team NEVER wins a title and only ONE trophy between ALL non-OF clubs per 3 years.

 

ONE TROPHY BETWEEN ALL NON OF CLUBS EVERY 3 YEARS!

 

That's not competition by any measure.. what we have is a closed shop run for the benefit of two clubs. All competition is stamped out, save a token trophy... 3 of the 5 being the more or less meaningless League Cup... every three years as scraps to the other clubs. We have institutionalised corruption, a media that wouldn't know 'impartial' if it kicked them in their fuds, and two greedy, corrupt, arrogant clubs who feel like WE owe THEM a living.

 

And Celtic, Rangers and the media talk as though a change in the SPL would be a BAD thing? That it would somehow DEGRADE the level of competition in Scottish football?

 

I wish to all the imaginary pixies of Christianity, Islam and Judaism that the Chairmen of Scottish football clubs had one single, solitary fucking nut between them.

Aberdeen, QotS, Dundee and Falkirk would have 1 FA cup each

 

St. Johnstone, Ayr, Motherwell, Dundee Utd and St. Mirren would have 1 League cup each

scottish football would be fine... 10 teams on more or less an even playing field, would mean

1. more season ticket sales for each club (because each club would have a chance of winning something)

2. even split of tv monies etc

3. young players would stay in scotland due to the chance of european trophies and medals

4. OF wouldnt rape clubs for best players for peanuts

The creation of the SPL is right up there as one of the worst decisions ever taken by the clubs as a whole.

Turned a competitive league into a two horse procession backed up by corrupt men in positions of power.

 

A sport I loved as a child growing up is a sport I now have limited interest in now.

Yes but we NEED Rangers and Celtic! Isn't it obvious, without them we'd be venturing off to some Scandinavian country, playing clubs we can't pronounce in Europe. We'd have a HSE headache with having to drive a bus full of footballers down a packed street after we'd won a cup or the league. We'd have to make room for potential new trophies, maybe eve dust off the old ones! We need Rangers and Celtic to prevent our club from over reaching!

 

God forbid if the other 10 clubs remain anything less than obscure in Scottish Football, let alone European football.

A topic ive banged on and on about since the turn off the century, the SPL is absolutely pointless. Every team outside the OF starts the season knowing there have no chacne of winning the league, and a small miniscule chance that one team may sneak a cup every few years, whoopi di bloody do, its boring and pointless.

 

I used to go to loads of games at pittodrie each season and a lot of away ones, for last 10 or so years, i just havent bothered, and im not the only one like this in my circle, primarily because the SPL is so moraly wrong and un-competitvie set up, christ the monopolies commision should have got involved in sorting our house out.

The SPL / SFA and all chairmen of the teams in the league since the turn of the centuary should hang their heads in shame and what our game has become, becasue they havent had the b**locks to stand up to the 2 cheeks.

 

I said years ago, get Rangers and Celtic to F**k, whether is England, Atlantic League, the moon, i couldnt care whoever wants them take them be done with them, have a 14/ 6/18 team league most teams will start the season with a chance of the league / qualifying for Europe - going to football might become exciting again.

 

Yes it might not be so appealing to armchair veiwers and sky - tough, but i can bet that every single team in the country will see an increase in attendances, better atmosphere at grounds, improved youth development, and just maybe in 10/15 years time all these teams will flourish and improve their standard to at least challenge some teams in the European stage.

 

Tell the two cheeks to do one, and i for one would be going to football matches much more often than i do now.

Same here - take the Old Firm out and ANY team is capable of winning league and both cups. I would attend more games than i do now if the 2 were not in the league.
