spamspamspam
My link Abu Hamza has lost his case and will be extradited to the US to face trial. Not one for death penalties but hopefully the yanks put him and his mates in front of a firing squad after a fair and well publicised trial. I was worried that he'd be allowed to stay, the ECHR can be a bit funny like that sometimes. Thank fuck he's no longer our problem Link to comment
muttondressedaslamb
Excellent news. That prison sounds the business, locked up for 23 hours a day and can speak to other inmates but only through a ventilation system. Link to comment

tutankamun
Surely this sets a dangerous precedent where a British citizen can be extradited to a country where they could be murdered? Does this not go against current British law? Link to comment

Does this not go against current British law? Aren't they being sent to the USA because it is a democracy, with rule of law and human rights? And they can get a maximum life sentence and not the death penalty? I'm sure it wouldn't have happened if it had been countries in the middle east that were seeking extradition. Link to comment

I don't even think habeas corpus applies to 'terrorists' or any prisoner connected with 'terrorism'. In other words, despite the ACLU and various civil groups prosecuting the government of the United States over massively unconstitutional.. fuck it, let's just say what it is... over the removal of the constitution and its protection of citizens and non-citizens... the U.S. government has employed a policy of doing whatever the hell it feels like doing, to whoever it feels like doing it to, regardless of nationality, guilt, or assumed constitutional protections. In other words you could technically sit in a Federal prison, unprosecuted, unrepresented, and without the protection of even the most basic of human rights, for as long as the U.S. government likes. Now, by all means arrest and hold 'bad' guys, but one of the basic rights of a human being is the right to be heard in a court of law, and to have competent legal representation. What you have in the U.S. is the return to a feudal system where the powerful can incarcerate, or execute, or piss on, the weak... and what is anyone going to do about it? Effectively 800 years of post Magna Carta civil rights have been removed from the populace because it's supposedly essential to keeping us all safe from guys with hooks for hands. Link to comment

Dandyesque
I like him. The Daily Mail needs its villians and if they have a hook for a hand, then so much the better. Personally, I'm less worried about cartoon terrorists like Hamza than the real ones, like in the Saudi or Pakistani governments Link to comment
