Willie Miller

Recommended Posts

I find it extraordinarily difficult to be critical of Willie Miller.

As much as Fergie off the pitch, he was the driving force on it for pretty much all our success.

I just think he's taken Milne's filthy shilling and has voluntarily reduced himself to the status of lackey. That's probably been forced upon him by events in his business ventures. But to see him play the role of Milne's meatshield saddens me more than it angers me.

I want to remember as he was... a TITAN in red, with his package crammed into slightly too tight short shorts. Not as Milne's excuse-monkey.

What's the scoop, he not bothered a bout the early kick off tomorrow?

His role has changed since he joined the club, he doesn't have a role which involves speaking on behalf of the fans etc.

He was offered it up on plate by Tam Cowan:

Tam: "So, Wullie, these kick off times are outrageous eh?"

Willie Miller: "Am no bothered".

*edit* Paraphrased, obviously, but that was the crux of it.

He just said it was an auckward situation that Scottish fitba finds itself in, in that every team needs a much money as it can right now from any revenue stream, and 12.15 kick offs were a trade off that.

I didn't really find anything that he said too offensive. What I did find offensive was that he didn't know what "buzzing" meant.

Given his failures in the restaurant/pub trade I'm not surprised

Kelt - you've summed it up very well.

Awesome player. Nothing else needs said there..

And I still think his first two seasons as manager was the best I've ever seen Aberdeen play. Including Fergie era. C'mon... 6-2, 7-0... 4 up front at times? It was just brilliant.

But anything else? Meh. Though I don't ascribe to the he has to go as he's a leech idea.

there was 2 7-0's in the space of a few weeks, I saw the Airdrie at home one, but missed the one at Thistle, which was midweek, the first game being abandoned because of snow, Thistle had one guy out with a brush in an attempt to keep the game going. The 6-2 against Hearts is in my top 3 games of all time, especially as they came back to 2-2, before Scouse put one in the top corner and we cruised from there.

Yep. Saw them all, except strangely the one that was abandoned. Saw the replay of it, the 7-0 against Airdrie and the Hearts 6-2 (which as I've said before is my favourite game of fitba I've ever been to. Stunning game. SS Section Y I think. Bounced into a few rows further down. Totally bonkers...)

Agree.

I loved watching Aberdeen then.

Almost every game home and away was a pleasure.

Only in Scotland could your clubs greatest ever player be ridiculed by fans.

Even after Dalglish's disaster back at Anfield he was still worshipped by the Kop.

As a player the guy is still & always will be a GOD! :dontknow:

Doesn't mean he can rape the family pets in front of the kids & get away with it now though :dontknow:

Wallowing in nostalgia did nothing for them either, it's disastrous to constantly look back.

The best teams evolve, and keep producing heroes.

Willie Miller was a fantastic player. But that was because we had a fantastic manager, who assembled a fantastic team. Without Fergie, none of those players would have had the same level of success.

He's been a disaster in terms of PR for the club in his new role.

Not only that, but he's an arse who disna have any basic human decency about him.

A bit like Dalglish actually.

Met him a lot have you?

It's Stewart Milne where the problems lie, Willie Miller was his shield so to speak. We'll see how Milne gets on now.

Once, in Soul Bar.

I tackled him about McGhee.

He didna hang about. He didna even respond. He just took to his heels after shooting me a look of sheer contempt.

So as a footballer, he was excellent.

As a man, he's got nothing about him, and symbolises our demise in recent times.
