St Johnstone Bounce Game

Recommended Posts

Won 1-0

In the training game in Perth this afternoon an Aberdeen XI beat a strong St Johnstone side 1-0 at McDiarmid Park. The makeshift Dons side played exceptionally well as they were up against what was close to the St Johnstone first team.

The game was another important step for Russell Anderson who got a good 90 minutes under his belt. The Dons captain was in commanding form and was up against three top strikers in Sheridan, Sandaza and Riordan. Jamie Langfield also impressed.

The only goal of the game came in the second half and was scored by Daniel Uchechi. Mitch Megginson looked lively throughout and the striker was unlucky not to score after hitting the woodwork a couple of times. Unfortunately the Dons other striker Mo Chalali took a knock and could be a doubt now for Saturday's trip to Inverness.

Team: Langfield, Magennis, Anderson, Mawene, Shaughnessy, Murray, Masson, Low, Megginson, Chalali, Uchechi. Subs Rogers, O'Neill, Fraser, Duguid, Smith.

Langfield impressed....brilliant, only planning on one game after the split, if he gets the nod i'll leave .

I worry that Broon may hand both Langfield and Mackie 1 year extensions...he's a lazy fu*ker when it comes to signing's and would rather hand out, albeit reduced deals, than be bothered unearthing decent signings

Geez i hope to fuck that someone explains to him that's not an option.

Langfield getting a new deal wouldn't bother me that much.

Can't see it though.

Also, Brown preferred Chalali to Mackie for most of the season, despite not thinking he's up to it. Positive sign, I hope.

Although I agree that these 2 at the very least should be moved on I reckon the logic in Browns thinking is that these 2 will basically accept any kind of offer to stay thus giving himself a couple of squad-fillers. Surely out of own personnel pride when you realise you are no longer required you just go find another job but as money is tight I reckon both will still be here next season :deadhorse:

Got to laugh at the wording in that report of the game.

"a strong St Johnstone team"

"The makeshift Dons side played exceptionally well as they were up against what was close to the St Johnstone first team "

"The Dons captain was in commanding form and was up against three top strikers in Sheridan, Sandaza and Riordan. Jamie Langfield also impressed."

As if we'll be impressed...

At least 5 of that team will be gone in the summer.

fucking bizarre that were playing the likes of uchechi and chalalalalalali when under 19s players could be getting experience

probably there to make up the numbers more than anything. to give the likes of Anderson and the young guys on the edge of the first team a run out.

I'd be far more concerned if the likes of the above, Langfield and Magennis were in the starting 11 on Saturday.

I'm planning on going to the Hibs home match if Brown starts to give these young lads a game in the first 2 bottom 6 matches, just so I can see how they get on for myself. If the guys leaving at the end of the season are still playing against Caley and the pars then I'll sack it.

I know what you mean. Its a nonsense we are still giving these guys a chance.

However I can see Brown giving Langfield one last chance to impress - the problem I have with this is Langfield should not be judged on 1 or even 4 or 5 performances - he should be judged on the contribution made over the time he has been here. The fact is he has participated in some awful capitulations and I get the feeling he is another one who just doesn't have the will and mentality to be a winner for this club anymore.

I worry he might find some reason to give them deals too.

But to describe him as lazy etc is over the top.

4 of that team are leaving in a few weeks, what was the point in playing them?

V. Good question. Would much rather have seen the kids get a chance.

Maybe he's saving the kids for the real games? (I doubt it)

I'd happily keep Langfield on less wages as a back up keeper. Mackie on the other hand, he'd be a shit back up keeper! Seriously though...he'd probably make a better keeper than a striker.

I suppose playing players who are leaving is a case of getting them in the shop window. It's more for the players benefit than Aberdeen FCs. Not saying this is right or wrong,

Langfield is a more than adequate backup keeper - I'd rather Brown concentrated on replacements where they are really needed, i.e full back and strikers who are good to improve the starting 11.

And If he does want to sign a new keeper I'd be looking to get somebody in who will improve us, such as Cammy Bell, as I dont think either J Brown or Clangers are that great.

Uchechi always seems to do well in these games. I wonder why he isnt getting a first team chance, given how bad the players that ARE getting a first team chance are doing?!

Supposedly Brown "always knew" he was too lightweight for the SPL

Dont get this at all... If he knew he was too lightweight then why sign him, if he's playing well in the bounce games then why not give him a couple of starts.

Then again he's meant to be quick and have a bit of skill and flair about him so probably answers my own questions.

Could be another Myles Anderson?

Perhaps we'll get a decent player next season in return from his agent?

Who knows.

Edit to add that there is probably no point in keeping Ryan Fraser either if physique is so important.

I fear Mackie will be given a 1 year deal. He will more than likely be on peanuts though

Best paid player at the club from what I've been told. AFC wage structure takes time at club into account.

If he was to stay he'd still be up there in wages. The 2 highest paid players at the moment are Mackie and Langfield.
