Stoney
Mine was done last year, im always very carefull about using machines. RBS played a blinder and spotted it when a transaction in Utah came through for 27p, they said they always test the card first with a small amount to see if it works. Link to comment

BrianFaePerth
It's certainly made me a bit more aware of how easy it must be to get your details as that card never left my sight. Have ye no dined in some snooty establishment with it? Link to comment
BrianFaePerth
Canna quite figure out why, but my pay goes in each month and days later there's nothing left without me having spent anything Link to comment
The Boofon
Have ye no dined in some snooty establishment with it? No. I just have my meal at the hotel. It's bad enough having to go down to London a day early as it is without dicking about heading off into the city to have a nice meal and especially as I'm travelling on my own. Bar supper, couple of pints then off to bed for a 4am check in. It's got to be someone at the hotel. Easy enough to go and buy a computer or something less traceable but to pay a fine in your name with someone else's stolen bank details isn't the sharpest thing to do. Link to comment
Leightons_Missing_Teeth
Had my card cloned a couple of years back, 3 strange withdrawals at $75 yes $ not pounds. Bank sorted all out by next morning though. Link to comment
ferlaytio
Got my card details stolen 4 years ago from a hotel in Edinburgh I stayed at and then they used my card to pay a 600 quid bill at some other hotel in England. Luckily my bank texts me my balance and 5 latest transaction every Wednesday so i noticed it straight away despite being in Ivory Coast at the time. They paid me the money back within hours seeing I was in Ivory Coast on the date the illegal transaction was made! Seems like hotel staff cloning card details is quite common! Poles no doubt Link to comment
The Boofon
Latest update. Checked my account today again and whoever took the details treated themselves to a night at the cinema last Thursday as well. Also reported this to bank and got my money back. Link to comment

The Boofon
You should apparently always destroy the card they give you for the door as this can be used to gain access to your back details by hotel staff. I've heard that about bank details but I don't know why hotel staff would gain how many tattoos I have and what condition my spine is in by viewing my door key card. Link to comment

Bit of a tangent but eh used tae regularly go tae Hungary, Slovakia etc in the 90s being as eh bided in Vienna. Every single night, without fail, about 4 or 5am eh would awake to my room door opening. At first it freaked me out and was always assured that "we need to check the number of guests in each room". WTF? Over time eh got used to it and realised the majority of the checkers were of the female persuasion. So eh would conveniently rush to the door stark bollock nekkid They soon left Link to comment

Pash
I bought a laptop a few years ago then went to Tesco at lunchtime and card didn't work. Called up Clydesdale and they say they weren't sure if it was me or not buying it so they blocked my card straight away. Good of them I suppose but would have preferred a call from them to say that they had block it. Had to leave my bag of shopping at the till. Link to comment
