tup
A recent Tokely interview about swapping Caley for County, after a derisory offer from Caley, detailed his keen sense of anticipation at the upcoming derby matches in the SPL. It contained the following titbits, the first of which had me bent over double laughing for nearly 5 minutes, followed by sporadic random outbursts throughout the day: (re the first derby game) "It's in my diary. It will be electric. There are boys in the dressing room with points to prove and different agendas. A lot of the players at the club have the bit between their teeth. FFS! What? No wonder they've been doing so well. He goes on to add: "The Highland derby is going to be the big game up here because it is fresh and both (teams') fans are chomping at the bit for October to come" So not only do the County players have it between their teeth, ensuring a long unbeaten run, but the fans of both sides will be chomping at it come October. My only issue with all this, and dinna get me wrong it makes for great copy, what is 'it'? This 'bit'? How is it quantified? I have a feeling this holds the key to footballing greatness. 2 Link to comment
Sonoftherock
I might have missed something, or maybe it's a massive whoooosh moment, but I'm pretty sure he's referring to the figure of speech, 'Chomping at the bit' It's a reference to horses/racing... the part of the harness that goes in the horses mouth is known as the 'bit' and horses tend to chew them when they're impatient or being held back. I'd say big Ross is trying to convey the idea that the Ross County players and fans can't wait to get started. Link to comment
The Boofon
It's horse related. Not funny either. You been on the glue again? Link to comment
tup
Well as he says they all appear to have it between their teeth. My point is, I think the Dons are lacking in players who have this mysterious quality. We need more players with the 'bit between their teeth'. They can then periodically chomp at it during the season. A winning formula. Link to comment
Dynamo
Aye, bit of a fail tup... Anyway Tokely is a Donkey, so no wonder he has the bit between his teeth. Link to comment
tup
What has horse racing to do with football I might ask? I laughed, hard, for a full five minutes at his first quote. Footballing cliche nirvana. Link to comment

johnstrac
It's "champing" not "chomping" at the bit. Link to comment
tup
It's "champing" not "chomping" at the bit. Try telling Tokely that. Those are direct quotes. I wonder if his ex-wife had the 'bit between her teeth'? Link to comment
zander
Na he meant to say he chapped the bint, not chomped the bit. Link to comment
tup
Na he meant to say he chapped the bint, not chomped the bit. And when he said between the teeth, he was talking about his fist. I get it now. Link to comment
V for Vendetta
This horseplay is below your usual standard tup. Neigh more of it please. Link to comment

muttondressedaslamb
What an utter mong. Some footballers just shouldn't speak. Link to comment
dervish
Maybe 'bit' is code for "Chris Kerr's cruciate ligament" and 'teeth' is code for "studs"? Link to comment
tommo1903
I fear Tokely will get the piss taken out of him for this by his new team mates for this. He could be saddled with it for a while. Its a good way to stirrup support for a derby though Link to comment
Coopy100
What an utter mong. Some footballers just shouldn't speak.I honestly thought, only for a nanosecond mind, that the mong part reffered to tup. Link to comment

tommo1903
Aye, imagine that Tokely's understanding of the English language isn't great, as A Scot Link to comment
