When you talk about pretensions on here, Parklife runs him close I'd say....

However, the way Bluto presents his pretentiousness is actually quite likeable/entertaining.  You can't say the same thing about Parklife unfortunately...

I imagine Bluto sitting there in a pretentious dutch cafe next to a quaint canal, quaffing his elaborate beers, while grazing on his even more pretentious pub tapas, watching 'european football' (read: cheering on Man United), kitted out in his finest Paul Smith threads from the 1990s.... I imagine he does believe he's some sort of avant-garde pioneer of new-age cool!  I imagine that these delusions of grandeur grow ever stronger, with each passing 9% belgian beer.  I imagine him scrolling through the forum, chuckling to himself as he reads the comments from the uncouth, great-unwashed philistines of AFC Chat!   He probably feels sorry for us... the unenlighted, culturally repressed.  'How must it feel to live your life in constant darkness?'  Unfortunately for Bluto, the perception of the majority is that he's little more than a poorly dressed, drunken old balloon, full of hot air!

Culture. Architecture. History.  Bluto is surrounded by these... as he loves to routinely tell us.  However, Bluts is a man of limited intelligence, and has little appreciation of any of the arts... however, as a mantra, if he keeps repeating them often enough, it makes him sound more refined and also provides a cover for his drinking problem.

I actually enjoy Bluto's interactions with Harcus...  They are also a fantastic vehicle for his pretentiousness.  Being so culturally enlightened, to paraphrase Stuart Cosgrove, you get the sense that he believes he is so superior to a primitive troglodyte like Harcus, that he could measure it by the yard.  'Live fast, die old. Wot were u doing this weekend croft boy LOL?'  When Harcus makes an arse of him, you can tell he finds it hard to compute... how dare a neanderthal from such a backward, repressed society, attempt to mock a cultured, debonair individual like Bluto10?

I actually found that very funny, but sad at the same time. Bloots comes across as a very basic, likable human being...and so does H. Doubt Bloots even knows how to spell pretencious.  :hypno:

Would all members of the crew describe you as part of the crew Bluts, or is it 'Bluts AND the Crew' the dynamic leading the uniformed to suggest that you are the leader.

Sort of like Huey Lewis and the News ? but without saxaphones

Now there’s a question. Do Huey Lewis’ band enjoy not being in the news now and what happens if one is once more thrust into the current affairs spotlight. Understandable confusion all round!
