a don in oz
Just been at the club shop and when I came out he was standing there with some training gear. Had a quick chat with him and he was asking how life was in Oz and if I'd make the Celtic game. Then Rob Milsom came out and looked well suss of me! Heh can't say I blame him. :D Link to comment

a don in oz
Wasn't really stalking them btw. Just spending some money in the club. But I did think it was nice of him to spend a little time chatting though. Link to comment
Foster14
I wouldnt say he was shite. Its just he's not as good as some made out last season. He is very good at what he does, and it doesn't surprise me that the loss of him pretty much coincided with when Arnason went to shit. Having someone do all the breaking up of play etc pretty much gave Arnason the freedom to attack. 3 Link to comment
Stoney
The loss of him also coincided with a remarkable improvement in our performances, and we actually had less shots per game against us with him and mawene out of the team. Ozzy gives the impression that he breaks up play......but he really doesnt. He has zero footballing ability and cant pass to save his life. In saying that - he didnt play very well at right back for us! 1 1 Link to comment
tup
If you multiply Foster14's post count by 10, it's almost an identical number to Stoney's post count, give or take a couple of thousand. That means Stoney has 10 times as many posts (nearly) as Foster14. That must mean something. I'm just trying to work out what. 1 4 Link to comment

Foster14
The loss of him also coincided with a remarkable improvement in our performances Oh aye, that three wins out of fifteen in the SPL (Kilmarnock on 14th Jan to Kilmarnock 5th May) was a period of great performances indeed. We were so unlucky in the twelve games that we didn't win, such were the great performances at the time. Link to comment
Stoney
We went from bottom of the league to 6th after those two got crocked! Link to comment

I'm trying to get to the bottom of statistics. You can tell everything from them. I'm studying Stoney's cool and measured use of them to draw the sting from his detractors. You canna argue with 12th to 6th and more passes made than before. Conclusion - Arnason and Osbourne are shite. Fact! 1 Link to comment
Stoney
Think gonzo suffered from being so exposed, look at the amount of shots he had to face compared to other keepers in the league. Once we removed mawene / osbourne we seemed to offer our keepers much better protection! 1 Link to comment
Foster14
We hit bottom on the 3rd of December. Mawene stayed fit until the end of December, Osbourne mid January. We never hit 6th again after hitting bottom. We reached a peak of 7th (while Killie were 2 points behind with 2 games in hand) on the 28th of January. Our most consistent 5 game spell in the season was when we got 10 points in 15 (13th December to 2nd of January). That was Osbourne's last game in the SPL until the 12th of May. If you are going to try and use performances/results to back up opinions held on players, best to check back first. 5 Link to comment

Once we removed mawene / osbourne we seemed to offer our keepers much better protection! Brown crowded out the midfield more and went even more defensive once we lost Osbourne. This will have in part contributed to the reduced shots on goal. I'd wager we had considerably less shots at the other end too. Link to comment

tup
Does 'not having a save to make' disregard goals scored against us? On the basis that you 'canna save a goal', a well known primary school footballing mantra. Link to comment

tup
I'll be waiting to see what his pass completion % is in comparison to last season. I'll also be watching closely to see how many passes he tries to make. It better be better than last season is all I'm saying. Link to comment

We went 11 games unbeaten after osbourne got injured (I thought this was meant to be some sort of wonderful achievement at the time and Craig Brown was the new Massiah) We must have gone 11 games unbeaten at some other point of the season though eh? Stoney
It wont. Osbourne is shite, he cant pass, cant shoot and cant break up play. We have 5 better options in midfield than this waste of space! 4 Link to comment
vanderark14
No coincidence Arnie's form dipped without Ozzy there doing the donkey work. And of course, that was by default put down to Arnie being lazy and a charlatan because he didn't sign a new contract. Osbourne next to Milsom/Jack/Hughes/Rae in a midfield three would work well. Osbourne Jack and Milsom would my picks from that but Jack will be right back so either from Hughes or Rae is fine Link to comment
tup
Of all the users to have met Osbourne, it would be don in oz, which is of course an abbreviation of Osbourne. Not that I'm suggesting anything untoward. 4 Link to comment

Included in the 3 wins was a home win over the team ultimately relegated and a win against QotS in the cup. I don't remember any talk of Messiahs (or Massiahs), maybe some said it was progress after hitting bottom. The progress already started in December though with both Mawene and Osboure playing. To put it in to context though: Osbourne's last 5 league games - 10 points The next 7 league games - 9 points (4 of the unbeaten run came in the cup). I think everyone shared the opinion that we'd rather be losing every so often in amongst wins, rather than having an unbeaten run full of draws. So fair enough, have your opinion on the guy, but best stop trying to use ill thought out arguments as some kind of method of proving that you were right all along... Link to comment
Stoney
Whatevs. By breaking up play you mean charging about like a headless chicken doing nothing much and passing the ball sidey ways than yes, he is very VERY effective. In general terms though, Hes fucking root. And Doubt he would be even on our first choice Bench let alone starting 11  1 1 Link to comment
