phoenix
Following a great opening concert at the Lemon Tree last week by Phil Robson, Jazz at the Blue Lamp continue their series of concerts with a solo performance by MOBO nominated pianist and composer Zoe Rahman at the Blue Lamp. Described in The Observer as "a remarkable pianist by any standard", Zoe has firmly established herself as one of the brightest stars on the contemporary jazz scene. A vibrant and highly individual pianist/composer, her style is deeply rooted in jazz yet it reflects her classical background, British/Bengali heritage and her very broad musical taste. Known for her powerful technique, wide-ranging imagination and exuberant performance, she has become a highly sought-after musician, working most recently in duo with bass legend George Mraz, with Courtney Pine's band and with Jerry Dammers' Spatial AKA Orchestra. At the Blue Lamp she'll be performing solo piano, drawing on music from her latest "Kindred Spirits" album and on her many jazz influences from Monk and Ellington through to more contemporary artists. The Blue Lamp, Gallowgate, Aberdeen, Thursday 27th September 8pmTickets Link to comment
