Your Council Tax

A friend of mine pointed out on Saturday at Tannadice some lads carrying a red flag with 3 x castle turrets on it which I informed him it was an Aberdeen City flag.

Some of you Aberdeen residents might note that a splendid version now flys in Duthie Park but I have been told how much our beloved council have spent on the flagpole and flag, not even the granite base it sits upon.

Now I hope the figure I have been given is about

Now I hope the figure I have been given is about £69,000 off the mark cos I reckon I could have bought the same for less than a grand

Please if anyone else has heard of this travesty please correct me and tell me its a joke

Someone told me it all got done up cos someone left them dough in their will to do it. The whole 'hill' got a revamp.

Not a chance the flagpole and flag on their own cost that.

Don't think you'd get it done for under a grand either but probably not far off it.

Remember that you'd need a consultant team to decide whether to use that flag or the Bon Accord one, then there's the Method Statement and Risk Assessments required - they don't do themselves you know. You'd need a set for digging the hole, a set for raising the pole and another set for concreting it in place.

No you wouldn't.

You would if each aspect of the job was getting carried out by different contractors.

Remember, the people awarding these contracts are of the mentality of those who put signs on trees to tell you to mind your head on the branches.

Branches that you would only hit your head on if you ventured closer in order to read the sign....
