Karl Fletcher
Will be staged across various cities in Europe. Confirmed by UEFA. Not really sure what to make of that but it might be decent as a one off. Not sure how that affects Scotland's qualifying chances if they pick Hampden as a venue. Link to comment

K-9
https://twitter.com/OliverKayTimes confirmed on talksport too what a stupid fucking idea this isNot a new idea. Scotland involved for ages with Hampden looking to be used. Don't see why it would be a bad idea. Chance for many many countries to get involved in tournament they would have no chance at all of hosting on own. Link to comment

Chance for many many countries to get involved in tournament they would have no chance at all of hosting on own. Yeah, if those countries are used... I'll suspect there'll be games in London, Berlin, Madrid, Rome, Amsterdam, Paris, Kiev, Warsaw, Vienna etc though. Link to comment

K-9
if its us, Ireland and Wales then thats not an issue but if its cities across Europe then its a stupid ideaAye a group in Scotland/Wales would be fine. Would have to be nearby countries though. But as Dynamo says may end up usual countries getting games. Link to comment
vanderark14
Aye a group in Scotland/Wales would be fine. Would have to be nearby countries though. But as Dynamo says may end up usual countries getting games. they want it in Europes top venues so most of the smaller countries are fucked anyway. UEFA/FIFA will not be happy till every single penny is sapped out of the fans Link to comment

Foster14
Terrible idea in my opinion. Surely the great thing about these tournaments is the country(ies) hosting bring a lot to the table in terms of its culture and fans. What are they going to do with this? Are they going to have localised groups, or are you going to have Eastern European countries playing in Western Europe while Western European teams are playing in Ukraine, Turkey and the likes? Logistics will be a nightmare for the average fan who wants to follow their own country. What this does benefit is having more large stadiums to have games in the hope that local fans fill it out at each one. Just another step towards the soul being ripped out of football. Dal Riata Don
UEFA/FIFA will not be happy till every single penny is sapped out of the fans If that is not at the heart of their current business plan then what should be? Don't say anything involving investment in the grass-roots of the game or I'll vomit. What it will take is enough of the smaller clubs/nations getting pissed off and leaving fifa/ uefa altogether and setting up their own system. Link to comment
Dynamo
No doubt there'll be a UEFA airlines introduced just for all the flying teams and fans will have to do. Kerching. Link to comment

Anything they can do to rip the average punter aff will be done and if the people running the show now can't think of bigger and better ways tae day it then they'll be replaced by new folks who can. stand_free
So either every country who gets to host a game automatically qualifies or they have host cities whose teams aren't in the tournament Link to comment

RUL
Bonkers, as well just scrapping it now....letting more teams than ever qualify and now hosting it all over europe. Link to comment
Pudgie
I like it. It doesn't give anyone a home advantage. A bit skewed towards the bigger teams, but I don't think there will be any difference. It lets international football reach a wider audience and could boost home domestic crowds if new people to football end up going. Link to comment

Bluto10
uefa and platini and indeed fifa, just seem to come up with more andmore dreadful ideas. i'm all for spreading the game - taking the wc to russia for example was not a bad decision per se. but this is ridiculous. i know it kindof used to be like this back in the olden days but the modern format of a country (or two) holding it is the best IMO. celtic nations or scandanavia ones would make for a good tournament. for me anyway its about the holiday as much as teh football. stand_free
Within half an hour of it being in the press, FA release a statement - 'we put forward Wembley for the final' and make the ne ne ne ne ne noise with the thumb on the noise like you did at school. Those cunts are unreal. I say play it at Millenium Stadium or Dortmunds stadium just to piss those cunts off. Whoever puts on the best spread for Platini and his mates will get the final. Henry
Glasgow's Hampden Park has been chosen to host Euro 2020 matches, UEFA has announced. The international tournament will be spread across the continent for the first time in 2020 to commemorate 60 years of the competition, with European football's governing body choosing the national stadium as one of the 13 host cities. Having been awarded a ‘Standard Package’, Hampden will stage three group stage matches and one knockout match from either the last 16 or the quarter-finals. Scottish FA chief executive Stewart Regan said: "It is wonderful news and I would like to thank everyone who has been involved from the outset of what has been a fantastic bid. "I believe Glasgow and Hampden Park will throw a fitting birthday party for the European Championships and I know the whole country will make it an occasion to remember. "We have worked hard to establish our strategic plan and today’s announcement gives us a perfect platform on which to realise our ambitions. "It would be great if Scotland can qualify for Euro 2020, playing in front of a full house at Hampden Park with a successful national team represented by graduates from our Performance Schools. "On the back of a hugely successful Commonwealth Games, and ahead of what will be a memorable Ryder Cup, I am delighted Scotland, Glasgow and Hampden Park will again look forward to being the focus of worldwide attention for Euro 2020." With a capacity of 52,025, the ground has previously hosted the UEFA Cup final in 2007 and the Champions League final in 2002 as well as this year's Commonwealth Games. The semi-finals and final of the competition will take place in London with the quarter-finals being held in Baku, Munich, Rome and Saint Petersburg. Qualification for the 2016 finals in France have already begun with Scotland losing their opening match to world champions Germany 2-1 in Dortmund. With Hampden still out of use, Gordon Strachan's team will play Georgia at Ibrox on October 11 before taking on the Republic of Ireland at Celtic Park on November 14. Minister for Sport Shona Robison said: "EURO 2020 coming to Glasgow will be brilliant for football and for Scotland. "Fans from across Europe will want to come here to soak up an amazing party atmosphere, while we’ll hear the ‘Hampden Roar’ just as loud in many different languages. Whichever teams make it, hundreds of thousands of fans will receive a great Scottish welcome. "I am sure this will give an added boost, if any were needed, to Scotland’s efforts to qualify for the tournament. "Scotland is the perfect stage for major events and hosting four matches in Glasgow will also provide substantial economic benefits. We will continue to work closely with the Scottish FA and Glasgow City Council to help put on a spectacular football tournament." Link to comment
