daytripping
Just watching the Bradford game tonight and the saw the banner for the 56 fans who died in 85, it's amazing how little coverage this one got compared to Hillsborough. The lack of regard for health and safety was the reason these people died, dried out old wooden stands with smoking allowed, why no witchhunt and where is the pop song for those poor buggers, is it only the scousers this is reserved for. Pash
That's a pretty brutal video to watch, especially the bit of that mannie on fire, read on wikipedia that he later died in hospital. Some other sad stories about people burnt to a crisp still sitting on their seat when they removed all the bodies the next day, unbelievable that could happen at a football match. Must be honest I never even knew about this disaster, was before I was born though. Link to comment

I was watching grandstand as it happened, never thought anyone had died just thought it was a few injured, apparently loads were trapped underneath when they'd went for pies or to the toilet, If I recall right the gate to let folk out the back was locked, it's pretty recent history and never gets a mention! That happened on my birthday,I remember the bus coming back fae the footy being very quiet after hearing the news.Last year I was on a fire fighting course and the Fireman showed us a few videos, one was The Great White gig when the pyrotechnics went wrong and another was The Bradford fire.If you keep an eye on the clocks on the vids,it's fucking scary how fast shit can happen. Ps my s/t is in the old stand at Tynie and I sometimes choke for a smoke until I remember the video. Link to comment

Was the first time I'd ever heard anything about the fire. Link to comment

daytripping
I recall Heysel, I was down at the beach watching a Eddie Kidd stunt show, was brilliant, heard some stuff about crowd trouble at the game but was only when I got to a chipper on King street later on that i heard about the scale of the deaths, was way before mobile phones etc. Eddie was immense, jumped 3 buses length ways! pity he's fecked up these days, was great in his day. daytripping
The Pool fans have short memories when it comes to disasters, they caused one, sweep sweep sweep, the next one they were also to blame imo but they've turned it round to blame everyone else, the ticket less fans who forced their way in are as much to blame as anyone imo. Shit stadium layout though and the fences were a disgrace, imagine if Bradford had fences! Link to comment
