A GAY couple claim they have been hounded out of a Scottish village by "homophobic" locals.

Paul Maden, 45 and James Findlay, 40, moved to Durness in the Highlands ten years ago to set up their own chocolate company.

Their firm Cocoa Mountain became a huge success and they count Yoko Ono and Prince Charles among fans of their luxury chocs.

But the pair claim they have been subjected to a decade-long campaign of anti-English and anti-gay abuse at the hands of a homophobic father and son.

And they plan to leave the village as soon as they can afford to up sticks.

Paul and James appeared in court this week accused of assaulting one of their 'tormentors' - John Morrison.

Dornoch Sheriff Court heard how the two men flagged down the 63-year-old ferryman's van and then repeatedly punched him in the head through an open window.

Mr Morrison said: "I wound down the window and they just started punching me."

The couple claimed they were acting in self-defence after Mr Morrison attacked them - and described how the incident followed years of racist and homophobic abuse at the hands of Mr Morrison and his son Malcolm, 35.

James told the court: "We constantly live in fear."

When challenged by the couple's solicitor, Mr Morrison admitted disliking them and setting out to make their life miserable, "because they make everybody

So the gay poofs violently attack a harmless local man who quite rightly treated them like the poofs that they are from the outset, treating them with the contempt they deserve, and the fudge packers are saying they have been persecuted and are somehow looking for sympathy?

 

Poofs are simply a nightmare for any community to have to harbour.
